Ditto on the MPG. My '06 4.4i gets about 14.3 city, and about 18 highway. Yeah, I don't drive 55, if you know what I mean!
The 4.4i is a great SAV. Power when you need it, almost as comfortable...

Part number for front left axle
I own an 06 X5 4.4i.
My indy found that the boot is torn, and it'd be cheaper to replace the axle, instead of just changing parts.
He quoted an OEM for about $600, or no-name for about $200....
