Its done !!! The trim is changed to brushed alu on my 2008 E70.

If i had known then what i know now, i would most likely not started this project. 8 hrs the trim change out took me. But ofcourse...

I managed to do it by removing the whole thing. Im not entirely sure what you mean. I found it really hard to remove and install the new trim even after eventually...
