Quite possibly true, but it's also the case that for some cars it's almost a plus to have one with the manual given how scarce they might be. With the X3 we seem to be close to the magic proportions...

Making sure that a novice has mastered the school line for a track is pretty much mandatory for a first round track day and it's always a Good Thing(TM) to know that line before trying to deviate...
