It is somewhat discolored, but it looks like it is from the heat.

Also, the headlight assembly has no open entrances. a rat or squirrel wouldn't be able to get in.

I've had my 2006 X5 3.0 for nearly 10 months. The car has been great, just had to do some minor maintenance. Quite happy until now.

The clips looked like they aligned. Just the gap...

The clips looked like they aligned. Just the gap into which the clip slides into seemed to be slightly smaller. I used a small sharp knife to cut the slots just a tiny bit and it eventually went in....

Checked the reservoir and it was below minimum. My cap says "ATF".
Searching a bit showed that I should use some Dexron III AFT, which I bought at a nearby NAPA....
