Can anyone give specific instructions on how to remove the sunshade?

2007 X3 oil filter cap
I changed my oil today for the first time. All info I have seen shows a piece in the center of the cap that goes down thru the filter. Mine does not.
Do ALL X3' 3.0's have the piece ?
