Push the auto button multiple times to cycle through soft/medium/intense.

The hvac controls annoy me too. It's part and parcel of BMW though - great engineering, mediocre to terrible UI for their...

I haven't tried it in the X5, but in my other cars you could use the trip computer's average speed reading to see current actual speed. Basically get up to a steady speed and check your speedo.

I seem to recall Car and Driver running an article on this years ago. It's by design in just about every BMW, and probably all German manufacturers due to German laws. Something about manufacturers...

He was referring to the windshield. I don't believe an aftermarket tint on the windshield is legal anywhere in the US.

I called a tinting shop once to inquire about a clear tint for my windshield...

Seems highly doubtful that any form of abusive driving for 400 miles could damage a belt. Worn tires and brakes yes, belts no so much.

Probably just a manufacturing defect of some kind - either of...

You should probably just try the BSW kit first - it's pretty inexpensive and if it doesn't do the trick then you can swap the head unit and amps afterwards.

I got 10k trade-in for my 2001 X5 3.0i last year. It had 100k miles on it.
