My Driver side engine mount has collapsed so might as well replace both.
The passenger side looks easy enough but the drivers side looks very tight.
To anyone that has done this job on the V8 M62,...

I don't see any reason to remove the engine for what you have described. If you pull the radiator and water pump you can stand directly in front of the motor which saves some back bending.

Just did this job on my car. Both boots split for some time and grease everywhere... even on one back wheel. I got it this way, previous owner must have rotated tires but not fixed the boots!

Could someone tell me if the intake manifold drain hose should be routed above or below the coolant transfer pipes?

Update... on top of the coolant pipes is the only way to go.

No. Lower timing cover has same part# as my E38 and same hose connection on back of it but appears plugged on X5.

I just removed all the coolant hoses from my 2002 X5 4.4 and don't recall seeing a hose running from the back of the Alternator housing as in my E38 740i. Moreover I don't see a hose in Realoem...
