Hi,
Did you ever find out the cause of the loud noise? I have a 2005 4.4i and I too have heard a loud clunk eminating from the rear of the car? Seems to run fine, could it be software related?...

Just a thought, do the M steering wheels in Europe have the "heated wheel steering" function? The alcantara wheel would be nice and the temperature would remain rather constant.
