That's probably what happened. To make things more confusing, there was an E46 318i, just not here in NA. Hell, even Canada has gotten the E36 320i and I think they even had an E46 320i.

I don't think so. I think the last 318 in North America was the E36. I think the earliest E46's were 323 and 328. Of course there was the 318ti. :tsk:
