That is actually a good point, I guess it's not due to the potholes or drains but did think that if the boot was subjected to constant stretch/compress forces then it would possibly wear out quicker....

I fully respect you all for going to the effort of removing the drive shaft to do a CV boot change. I am not sure about other E53 x5's but mine absolutely eats CV boots, they go about every two...

Yeah, thats me as well with the Balicast Stickyboot, its still on the car now, no splits either. And... my x5 loves to eat CV boots so I don't see the point in spending ages doing the axle pull...
