Correct - that's the point. The trailer has no reverse lights so I have to fit the two diodes as shown to fool the bulb check monitor the car. Without the diodes I have a "Check Trailer Lights"...

Tom, in your case, the "Check Trailer Lights" issue is easy to fix - you need to add a couple of diodes to the trailer connector to connect the reverse light circuit of the car to the tail light...
