E46 seat control

Has anyone tried an E46 seat controller in an X5? They look exactly the same, but on realism the part numbers are different. Thoughts?

Seat Controls

Are there any negative repercussions if I take out the seat control module to work on it and drive the car with it disconnected? It has the sat controls with the memory system in it too.
