Gray dashes were the only ones that had a bolt in bracket is my understanding. If you have a black dash, cutting the bracket out is your only solution.

Check your transmission gear selector shaft seal. Mine went out at 180,000 miles and left a quarter sized drop of ATF when parked. Easy one hour fix with the proper tool.

4X4 light by itself is usually a steering angle sensor failure. Check your sensor values.

The damage looks significant. I wouldn't be surprised if the insurance company claims it a total. I see a hood, fender, bumper and xenon headlight. Our cars just don't have any real value anymore.

My guess is the steering angle sensor has failed causing the 4x4 light indicator. Common issue with higher mileage X5s. Easy to replace, takes about 1 hour. :thumbup:

Good news, my TCU had failed causing the parasitic draw on mine too. Remember though, if you discharged the battery too may times, you may have damaged it. You may also have a replacement battery...

I just used a pry bar to move the plastic box and...

I just used a pry bar to move the plastic box and it gave me enough room to get the bolt in and out. It does not damage the plastic if you take your time and move it gently.

So you are able to communicate with the DME so it's not crashed. No codes and no run leads to the fuel pump or pressure. Have you check for pressure at the rails?
