Avators question

I notice a few folks have animated images for avators but when I try to upload one from my local drive it comes up with You may not upload animated images. Do I have to do something special to be allowed to do this.

Fiona, generally when you reduce gif files (animated) you lose the animated feature. I think you need a special program to do this. I remember helping out a member CJ with his animated avatar a while ago and let me try to dig out that program again.
