TerminatorX5 05-21-2014 12:21 PM

premier membership, perhaps???

UCrewX5 05-21-2014 01:41 PM

the ground rules are noted in the sticky post in the forum - http://www.xoutpost.com/classifieds/...und-rules.html

Premier Membership is a requirement to post items for sale.

I bought the best stuff out of forums in the last 14 years.

Why would you limit the items by ~90% for your community? :dunno:
That hurts more the community than the seller.

This forum is not that busy, I doubt that someone would pay to reach a handful more potential buyers.

on the contrary, i would say that this forum is busier than some others... well, maybe not as busy as ebay or craigslist, though...

you still can buy whatever you want from whoever is selling on this forum, no need to be a premier member to buy things... but if you are using this venue to make or recover invested money, it comes with the paid membership... rules have been the same for almost 10 years now and have not changed...

I have premier membership for couple of years, and only mentioned one item for sale so far - i did not get the premier account to sell things, it is to support the site... your reasoning for getting membership or not getting it could be anything else...

Interesting thought.

I agree it will help to keep scam of the board. But this could be solved with a minimum amount of posts or registered time.

Since X model are not the most enthusiast oriented model BMW has, that is true that here are some posts. However compared to example M3forum, here is nothing going on at all where the FS section is booming.

I understand that someone thought that was a great idea 10 years ago, nothing against supporting the forum. Time has changed and enthusiasts share rather their deal with enthusiasts. This hurts the premier member on this board the same way as not premier members.

Example:
I just bought, on a different Forum, my from BMW painted (in 2013) flares with not a single scratch shipped for less money that the "great price ebay e70 flares". The user had ~60 posts and was working on getting his car back to stock.

I bet a premier member on this board would have loved to grab this deal. :yikes:

Correct me if I'm wrong.. I just try to understand why you would force someone to be a premier member to sell and keep deal away from the community.

TerminatorX5 05-21-2014 02:54 PM

many members here are also active (or passive) members on other BMW boards - search for my handle on the boards, you will see that I might have a 1 or 2 posts there... I am also a member on foreign language boards related to the BMWs...

If I am looking for something related to my car and it is not available on this board, i will look on the sister boards, as most of the parts are shared between models... however, this board is not a bargain basement nor a flea market, this one is mainly an exchange of idea and exchange of goods is purely incidental to the friendship and comraderie that is built here - i have a few members here that are also on my FB page, and once a year we even get together for a little barbeque...

I am not stouchly defending the old way - if you can convince the folks here that the old ways should be changed, by all means, they can be changed... So far i have not heard a convincing enough argument into opening those "floodgates" though...

Think of this as a HomeOwnersAssociation... I personally would not buy a house where there is a HOA but, some people like it that way...

:)

Cheers

I think we get it and we appreciate your thoughts. However Buying and selling is not the sole purpose of the site. Much of what is done is making an honest effort to help each other to maintain the X population. In that regard the outpost in an outstanding resource that many members have and continue to use to save a substantial amount of money. That benefit alone far out weights the cost of premier membership.

Also, as was said Xoutpost in not a flea market where one can just come aboard and spam till their hearts content. Others have tried it and it annoys the hell out of most of us.

Finally, to answer the question why? Post # 4 says it all....;)

Thanks.
My plan was not to bring trouble. Was just curious and shared my two cent. :D

I always did see the FS section as another benefit of being part of the community but I understand that user here get annoyed by deals, for the enthusiast product why there are here.
I guess this will not change and that is fine.

Btw, I really have 30 Posts since 2006?! :yikes:
