Exchanging Wheels E70/E53

Before I start, I apologise, as a Brit, for not already finding the answer to my query......
Tell me. Can you exchange 18"+ wheels between the E53 and E70 X5s. (I have one of each)
I already realise that you must not use run flat tyres (tires to you) on the E53 if it hasn't got tyre (tire) pressure monitoring. (Mine has as it's UK supplied '06.)
Regards to you all
John

John,

Not a plethora of posts with hard info on this topic...
Here's a quote from an old post of mine which was based
on the minimal specs I could locate and some interpretation
on my part:

"From my quickly fading memory, hub bore size is
slightly larger on E70 wheels vs. E53:
reportedly 74.1 on E70 and 72.56 on E53.

I think an E53 wheel that one likes, could be machined
easily, to fit well on an E70. I suspect the reverse is
not practical, unless one found a good welder and grinding
man at that machine shop."

From this thread:

There may be a couple of wheel "styles" that seem to fit both, from
anecdotal posting, but nothing firm in my memory.

The slightly smaller bore size on the E53 wheels may make it academic
as whether an E53 wheel will fit your E70; vice versa, the larger hub
bore size may cause the E70 wheel to wobble or not button down tightly
on the hub.

Hey, give it a try, drive at low speed initially, and tell us the results!
