New Tires

I need advice on replacement tires for my 2003 X5 3.0. The OEM tires are the Michelin Energy MXV4+ with 55,000 miles. These are great tires but replacements are very hard to find and I suspect they are being discontinued. I would hate to buy these tires and then not be able to by a single replacement tire if one is damaged.

I am happy with my Bridgestone Turanzas. Tire Rack has them as one of the lower priced options and they are getting top ranks.

The Turanzas are summer tires. Looking at where the OP lives, I would think he wants either winter tires or at the very least, all seasons. I'm guessing that Michelin is replacing the MXV4s with the Lattitudes.

Try Toyo Proxes tires too.

A lot of people indicates that those Toyos get really loud after about 10k miles. So be careful with those, especially when there are so much negative camber on the rear of the X

I agree they seem to have been replaced by the latitudes.

If you want the same tires, they are a dime a dozen on craigslist.
Yes, you will also want winter tires, all seasons just don't cut it in the winter (snow or ice, essentially below 40 degrees).

Seasons? What are these seasons you speak of?

:D Sorry sometimes I forget, mainland weather is a bit different.

You' re right, they were discontinued 2 years ago.
Direct replacement (but improved in a few factors) are the Michelin Latitude Tour (also M+S, like the MXV4).
I have them for 8,000Km (5 months), used them in bad conditions (Snow, ice, -20oC, trip from Greece-Austria) and I' very happy with them...

Thanks to all. I live in Connecticut and definitely need an all season. The Lattitudes sound like the tire I need.

Thanks for the tip guys. Will keep you updated when I start hearing any load noises on my tires.
