Has anyone used a portable compressor/inflator?
Hi.
Is there anyone who has some experience with portable compressor/inflator that uses 12V? Tirerack sells Continental branded one, and I am wondering if it's good. My X5 comes with RFT, but won't buy RFT for winter tires. Thanks. |
I have an el cheapo one from ebay. use it for my kids bikes etc.

I have this kit from Conti, which I tuck in a trunk cubby in the Vette,
as it has no spare and I've replaced the RFTs. I have not had to use it, though I did try out the mini compressor: it's ok and seems it will work; not as fast as my ol'Black & Decker Air station, however. It simply takes a "while" to put the volume of air necessary into these large tires, but I think it is worth it for some piece of mind. I got 2 from Home Depot. The 1st died after several years. It owed me nothing, The other is a cambell&??. It works just fine, does take a while to fill. I bought it for my Porsche as the spare is not inflated, but use it for my other cars when needed.

Portable compressor
I use a Campbell Hausfeld for many years (bought for $35 from Walmart) ...the rechargeable battery's dead but works fine in the 12V outlet. Fills up air pretty fast & good pressure, multipurpose use- camping air mattress, boat trailer, water toys, bikes, you name it.......

I have never had any good luck with the 12v compressors. I finally spent more, and have a small 120v compressor that lives in the garage. It is not really larger than the 12v kind, but is much more powerful. Pumps up car tires, and inflatable pool toys, much faster.
