All Terrain / Trail Tires on an X5

Nobody ever mentions using off road tires on the X. Yeah, I know it doesn't have the ground clearance for serious off roading, but wouldn't an extra set of A/T tires be a nice compliment? I just picked up some Style 57's and want some fun and agressive looking off road tires that would function well in the dirt/mud/whatever when I am not just getting groceries.

Any experiences?

I think the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo might fit my needs.

I am running a set of Continental Grabber AT 275/45/20" on my bmw E53 30d and they are good performers. I have a heavy foot, so speed is a must for me. Very quiet as well. Rugget look. Beautiful all round look. Also have a good life span. Being running them now for 30000km and still 9mm thread depth.

I own a 2013 E70 X5 35d. It's currently riding on Toyo 255 55r 19's. I want to switch to 18 wheels, and run BF Goodrich 265 60x18 on. Can anyone tell me if I need to put on wheel spacers running stock BMW 18x8.5 wheels?

Gawd, I LOVE the look of big beefy tires on this model X5. Just looks so proper. I hate tiny rubber band sidewall tires on ANY SUV.
Caddys are famous for those. "Ridin' on twenty-Foo's with 15 series sidewall tires". Man that's just horrific to your suspension and ride quality too.
These fat sidewall tires make the ride sooooooo comfy. Yeah they are garbage for high speed maneuvers but that's the trade off.

I JUST grabbed new factory recommended tire sizes for my factory 20s BUT you guys make me want to have these monster tires... Too bad I couldn't mount them on the 20" factory wheels :(
just no tire clearance in wheel wells for that game.

I'm looking at some 245/70R17s... +5% in diameter. Should dampen the sport suspension a good bit and give me ~18mm more ground clearance.

The long running "overland" thread on this site is a great one for wheel and tire options for those looking for more off road capable setups.

I'm running 275/70/16 Yokohama Geolanders on 16" Method wheels. This won't work without a small lift (I'm at about 2"), but the Geolanders may come in a size that works on 18" rims. I like the tires a lot and they are very quiet on the highway, which was something I was concerned about. The price on the Yokohamas is much better than other popular AT M/S tires.
