There are so many questions about what wheels and tires to choose. Online retail sites and 'configurators' don't give a true sense of what works and what looks best. Post pics of your wheels and tires here!!

Hi.

I got mine from a place called wheelbase in Britain.. They fit straight on to the e53 without hub rings.

They might be heavier then OEM as metioned, but i have never compared them.. Im very happy about my replica rims.. Especially when considdering that getting the OEM here in Norway would be 4-5 times the price.

Wheel Bore Job

Hello
I have a set of OEM 212 wheels and tires for a E71/X6 that I have been trying to sell. SInce BMW made the bore openings for the rear wheels 72.56 and the front bore 74, I am having a hard time selling them. I see that you had your bores increased for your ride.

Can you give me a ballpark idea of what the bore job cost you, so I can give potential buyers what they can expect to pay to have the same thing done to these 212's.

Thanks

Satin Black Style 57 Winter Setup.

2 Attachment(s)
Bought these style 57's specifically for winter duty and mounted new Bridgestone Blizzak DM-Z3's in 235mm width. The wheels were silver but the clear coat was real chalky. I fixed that with a nice coat of Satin Black Polyurethane I sprayed at work. Love the look and it easy to maintain. Used these last winter for about 4-5 months. Came across a fellow BMW club member this fall that traded his E53 for a new E70. He had a set of Winter Wheels and tires that didn't go with his trade, so I bought them. So....the Satin Black wheels (pictured below) I am letting them go after only 4-5 months of use. I'm in Nebraska and willing to ship. Anything over $600 + shipping for wheels and tires is fine. PM me if you have interest.....<bmwm591 at neb dot rr dot com>.

The offset on those may make it difficult. Style 333m is a similar wheel with the correct offsets for the x5.

You have air suspension.....you could have at least put it in access (aka picture) mode!! geez!

Ricky Bobby 12-05-2013 02:01 PM

DOH! I should have, on my next official photo shoot I'll drop it some, been contemplating lowering regular height about 3/4" for regular driving as well :)

X5SND 12-13-2013 08:20 PM

3/4" to 1" would be about the same ballpark as my normal ride height with the lowest mode being ~3/8" below that. My lowest mode is a bit too low for safe everyday driving (it's best suited for creepin by the club or through a parking lot) while my driving height is still low enough to look 'proper' while maintaining enough travel of the dampers for safe everyday operation.

I can always grab measurements, but just from eyeing it out, it sits so that the wheel gap is about the same all away around the rear arch, with the front about the same. The front will look a bit lower because of the wheel arch design, but the X sits level.

BIMMER_BLUEBLOOD 12-13-2013 08:56 PM

does anyone have m sport 650i wheels on their x5?

X5SND 12-14-2013 05:28 PM

Style 373? I would venture to say probably not....at 8.5" F and 9" R widths, they're going to be too narrow for most wanting 'that stance' you see on most X's. Nice looking wheels though!

Driving 95% of the time on rough city streets they're better than the Dueler HP's I had previously, and for that I love them. The other 5% on the highway and through "spirited" driving spurts....no so much. They defintely dont provide the same high speed & cornering stability that the duelers did.

The "all season" aspect is irrelevant in my case as I have dedicated blizzaks for the winter months. Oh, and lastly....the duelers looks WAY more bad ass than the DWS. The square shoulder made them look even wider!

I'd be on the fence about buying the DWS again.

Winter Wheels and Tires

4 Attachment(s)
Since its winter, I figured I would post some pics of my Winter Wheels and Tire setup. Wheels are Elbrus 105 (silver with machined face) wrapped with the brand new, just released for 2013 Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV in 255/55-18. I attached a couple of pictures after the first light snow of the season.

If you haven't read anything on these new snows, here is a link for info. Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV

So far, these are the best snow tires I've ever owned. Have had Blizzak LM-25 4x4's, Hankook i-pikes and now these. Its not even fair driving on the snow and ice. Rarely does the anti-lock kick in...it just stops with no drama. Grip is incredible accelerating and turning as well. My summer use Michelin Lattitude HP Tours' are awesome, but as with any all-season tire, there is a compromise in every season. They are ok in light snow but once you have dedicated snow tires, you will never want to use anything but them in the snow.

Perhaps I'm missing something but a 275 is the widest OEM size that was offered for the E53? (275/40/20)

Sidewall on the other hand is a different story.......

I would think the combination of heavy wheel/tire combo & small sidewall made for wonky dynamics on less then perfect roads.

That doesn't look to bad actually for being 22's. I've been looking at the eBay 4.6is kits for my 4.4, which means it'd come w/ rear fender flares that I'd either install and have to get wheel spacers or just leave the flares off.

EDIT - I just looked on Google and the spokes are coming up differently. Are you sure they're AF126's?

The ride is great. I though it would be harsh because of the low profile, but it actually feels similar to the stock 20. It handles like it is on rails with the 315's. The rims are really lightweight for their size they have forged centers and forged spun barrels for added strength. I orginally purchased the rims for a x5m, So I had to install them with 74.1 to 72.6 Hubcentric rings in the front. The rear hubs are the same size but you will need 30mm spacers to allow a 12 inch wide rim to fit the rear.

Wheel fitment question.... Aplogize if this is in the wrong section, but I've tried to find some info on this, but nothing specific, so I'm hoping here, where folks have done allot of trial and error that maybe someone knows the answer....

I have a 2013 X5 (E70) Premium with the stock 255/50/19's on it and I'm trying to see if I purchase a set of 20's from a 2014 (F15) M Sport if they will fit or if I'll have any issues.

I know the bolt pattern is the same, so I'm good there, I know that the factory TPMS has changed from 2013-2014 so I'll need to re-use or order another set of TPMS, and I'm sure I'll need to get a set of factory wheel arches, but I'm more interested to see if anyone has done a set of 2014 20's from an F15 and put them on a 2013 E70.

If anyone can help who has info on this or may have done this already it would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just for the record, I'm thinking of doing a set of 451M wheels from a 2014 X5 (F15).

Thanks kindly!!!

What you need to know is if the center bore, or hub bore of the wheel is the same. The answer is "yes". The hub bore is 74.1mm, as long as it is not an "M" car.

Next you need to find out the off set of the wheel ...

Love these winter tires and the wheels that happened to come with them (from an Xoutposter leaving the fold).

I threw out the crappy 19" Bridgestones (rubbish RFTs) and bought a set of super cheap Pirellis for the summer from Tirerack ($600 shipped). Those are sitting in the garage ready to roll once the temps go up.

So now I am probably the only one upsizing in the winter..... :D

m5james 02-11-2015 11:03 PM

What wheels are those?

BMWOO7 02-13-2015 11:39 AM

I love this style wheel. I'm guessing that these are aftermarket wheels, but would you be so kind as to let us know how they ride now that you've had them on for a while.

As well as where you got them from, the cost and the actual sizes. I love the look of the 20" wheels with the wheel flares, but these look like you can fit the 275/315 tires on these wheels and keep them inside the original fenders.

Please let us know if you've noticed any high speed vibration or rubbing when making tight turns etc...

They look great on your car, with the color, tinted windows etc...

Thanks!

Style 375 is 21". If he's running 275 and 315, its an aftermarket 20" wheel. I have a set of Style 375s for sale (see sig).

18x8 wheels picked up on Ebay, with Toyos. Glad I went with chrome & these are easy to clean. Also glad to have used the dustless brake pads.

20” OEM 227m staggered wheels.

Here are a few pictures of them on my old 2008 E70. I don’t have any pictures of them on my 2012 E70, but it’s not much difference:

I believe they're ADV.1's. He's since sold the truck and picked up an X1 w/ the N55 that he's modding.

:tsk:

Why X1? I love what he did with his X5 though....maybe he got new tricks?

m5james 09-07-2018 01:38 PM

He'd explain better but I think it came down to getting a smaller SUV then it's got a much larger aftermarket...he basically did all he could to it minus built engine.

We just picked up this 2011 X5 with 19" factory wheels. We are going to powder coat the wheels black. We would also like to go wider and lower with tires. It currently has the stock 255/50-19.

What would you suggest to get a lower sidewall and wider tire?
