Will this offset combo work on the e53?
I have a set of non-staggered 21" Style 128's on my wife's e38 right now. we are looking to sell the car and might keep the rims if they will fit the e53 body we are interested in.
here are the specs... and yes, i've searched, but specific offset info wasnt available. 21x9 et22 on all 4 corners. 72.56 hub bore (standard e38 bore) I know it may or may not have been done, but how much can i afford to extend the rim with the offset without sticking out too far? THanks in advance |
anyone???

The hub bore is the same as the E53 so that will work, but the backspacing is too short so they will sit in a bit too much. But that is an easy fix with hub spacers. 10mm would suffice, but you can put 15mm to 20mm and be within the normal total backspacing range for OEM style wheels in that size range.
Those 128's should look pretty sweet on the X too, maybe post pics if/when done. And if you are wondering, Wheels for BMW X5 on Special! Wheels X5,rims X5,chrome Wheels X5, wheels, rims bmw has some different size/width/backspacing info for each of the wheels for some reference points. |
I'm no expert, but i'm pretty sure that the x5 offset is usually in the +40 range. If my offset is only +22, i think they would stick out further, not sit in too much. I'm just wondering if that much of an offset difference will still fit reasonably under the stock x5 fenders

You could always just put a floor jack under each, pull a couple wheels and give it a try. Then you can physically see how the backspacing fits. I'd go with the front wheels as the proximity to the strut is where any problems would surface. But if it is too close you can get hub spacers up to 30mm to correct for it, or sell the wheels and buy some made for the E53... there are options.

Wheel Offset Calculator I'm not new to offsets at all, i just was asking to see if someone could please give me an idea of how much space i have to work with coming out towards the fenders. |
Just realised I was thinking about the offset backwards, you are right... Well, in that case maybe someone who has tried a similar setup can chime in.

i have 9.5x20 et 45 front rims the offset calculator on your link tells me that your wheels will have 29mm more inner clearance and will extend 17mm outward i think that could be acceptable especially if you could fit , say the wider arch of a 4.6is or 4.8 is . i`m trying to find the centre bore size for a 2004 X3 , has anyone reading this got that information please . |
Well we just bought an 01 sport 4.4i. I will most likely be mounting the style 128s up tomorrow or Saturday to see if they work and to take some pictures. I'll be sure to respond so someone can search for this info later.

was an old one showing a poster who put E53 wheels on his X3; unfortunately, the pics are gone, but I remember it looking good. My point is I am nearly poz that the wheel bore is the same for X3/X5, fwiw. GL, mD http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...nning-19s.html |
