Brake upgrade for 2008 e70 3.0d

I have recently acquired a X5 (e70) 3.0d with comfort access, DVD package, HUD, and Bluetooth interface.

:(The braking performance is severely lacking for a BMW:(. I want to upgrade to better brakes. My X5 has 18" wheels. What are the best alternatives?

I feel the rotor are of adequate size. The calipers seem lacking!!! any alternatives!! Which brake pads??
