20" Rim Fitment HELP!! PLEASE!!?? TIA...

What's up guys!? Ok I need your collective help again. Ok so I got my X equipped with a standard suspension and the wide body kit in April 2008 with the mickey mouse 17" wheels. I couldnt take the bloated look with the tiny wheels and only 3 weeks later I mounted 20x10" Beyern Multi's all the way around wrapped in 275/40/20 Hankook Ventus STs. The 17's havent seen the light of day since.

I joined what was X5 World at the time and had been reading all the posts about how horrible the X handles in the snow. Literally at first snow, I was at the tire shop removing the Hankooks and mounting 275/40/20 Hakkeppellitta snow tires onto the Beyern Multi rims. They handled thru snow like the X was on rails and when winter was done, I went to remount the Hankooks.

In the midst of the remounting the summer tires this past spring, I noticed some of the beads on both summer and winter sets were beginning to tear due to all the stretching during mounting/dismounting.

I decided I'd shop for a dedicated set of winter rims. Found a set of rims (Big Dawgs by Dub) I liked even better than my Beyern Multi's. I purchased them with the intent of mounting my summer tires on them in the spring.

I mounted the snow tires on the Beyern Multi's literally the day we got 12" of snow. They handle great. So enough of the foreground information.

The question I ask is posed because I received a call today from the rim dealer. Because I've been running 20x10" all around pretty much since I've had the truck, that is what I ordered. But the dealer is telling me that he did all this research and I must use staggered fitment 20x9 up front and 20x10 in back and he doesnt want to ship the order and then I have to send it back.

The offset for the 20x10s he'd prepared for shipment is +38. My summer tires as I mentioned before are 275/40/20s. If I get 20x9s up front, I'm pretty sure they'll fit onto the rim but the tires will be a little bit squeezed onto the rim.

My question is (and maybe I should make a poll) should I just keep the order as 20x10s all around that have posed no adverse effects over the 20 months I've had the X or should I get the narrower 20x9s?

As I said before, I have the wide body kit and the 20x10s up front fill out the wheel well nicely.

I'm at work so I dont have any pictures with the front wheels turned straight but as you can see, even the rear wheels are still neatly tucked underneath the widebody kit.

nice truck!

you are a brave man running those 20's in the winter with such small spoke spacing and chrome plating. i would think the salt would run crazy on those within a couple of years.

you do not need to run staggered. most likely the rim seller receives those wheels as a stagger fitment (as most larger x5 wheels are), and making a square setup will split their sets. if this isn't the case, don't worry about running square all around. the 17" and 18" both run square stock, and stagger actually induces understeer. if it fits with the 20x10 and you like the heavy steering feel in the front, go for it.

Thanks Anerbe for the compliments and info. The heavy steering at this point is pretty much normal for me since its all i've ever known barring the first 3 weeks of ownership.

Here's the wheel I ordered:

20x10s should be fine. There are few members here who run 20x10s all around.
Here's one from member jmh jmh's X5 4.6is Home

Thanks for your help Lemans. Damn Janis' X looks BROLIC! And his 4 wheel setup is even wider than the ones I ordered! I suspect Anerbe is right in suggesting the seller doesnt want to split up a staggered set. But his ebay auction was for 20x10" all around so go figure.:dunno:
