Will these wheels fit 4.8is?

Hi, I am thinking about winter setup and these wheels would be nice...

the problems is the big front brake caliper on E53 4.8is.

I have read on this forum that some R18 wheels fit it while other 18" do not depending on the design of the rim.

This one is a taken from a E70 (I expect to need to use hub rings) - but I am more concerned with caliper clearance.

Or any other issues you know of :dunno:

Many thanks in advance.

as long as they r 18s i think you will be ok. you will need rings if they r off an e70.

Hi, thanks for your reply...

yes they are 18" but some people say that not all 18 wheels allow for sufficient clearance for big callipers on 4.8is. I am trying to make sure that they will fit - so if anyone has put them on or knows about the issue I am asking I would like to hear one more confirmation just to be sure.

Have you tried them on? I read about the rings, yes. What would you recommend - plastic or aluminium?

thank you...have you used aluminium rings for a long time? people write that that "weld" after prolonged use...is this so bad as it seems?

...and do you think the wheels in question will stay clear of the callipers?

those brakes look like the same size as the 4.8is. As long as the 18s are off another x5 you should be ok.

what is the offset on these?

I heard some stories about plastic ones wearing faster and cracking. Rather have stuck metal than plastic. Best is to not have hub centric rings but have the H&R spacers ECS is selling, which do a better job.

Use these adapters instead of hubcentric rings
