Help with tire fitment. Please don't judge. (non-BMW content)
So a few cars prior to my current e53 4.8is, I had a Jeep SRT-8. As I was cleaning out the shed, I found left over OE tires (Goodyear Eagle RS-A All-Season, Run Flat) from the Jeep with these specs- 255/45/ZR20 and 285/40/ZR20. Would these tires fit the OE 4.8is wheels? Or should I just throw them out? I'd hate to waste usable tires, but if they don't fit, why bother with them.

- Speedo will be off, as stock height is 28.7". - Tires might be a little stretched on the wheels. - The OEM sizing (275/40/20 and 315/35/20) is more closely matched in diameter. Disregard the clearance notes, the calculator is set up to compare the left column (front) to the right column (rear). Hope that helps. - J |
You may also want to consider the age of the tires (you said a few vehicles ago, I don't know if this means a year or two or several, but its pretty generally accepted to discard tires after 6years of age (by the date code on the tire, not how long you have owner/ used it), no matter how good they look..
'BMW AG, Ford Motor Co., DaimlerChrysler AG, Toyota Motor Corp. and Volkswagen AG have all backed guidelines that tires should only be in service six years' |
Thanks for the help guys! I will probably throw the tires out. Age of the tires is actually pretty new within the 6 year range. Again, thanks for your help!
