Moda wheels, can I take off stainless rim edges before removing tires?
 

Hi guys, I bought some winter tires for the e70. They came with 18 inch MODA wheels which have a stainless/chrome ring on the lip. I wonder if these can/should be removed before dismounting the tires. The rings have like 8 little hex bolts it seems to hold them on. Just wondering how tough this would be?

The Moda wheels will be for sale once I get tires off as I have another set of 18s more appropriate for the e70.

Ok, I guess today I found time to answer my own question, they come off quite easily. I am not sure I have seen this concept before but it is quite clever. The edges of these wheels are covered with a separate trim piece that come off and can be replaced.

No need to fear the crazy tire installers or if you curb the wheels you can replace the lips, (provided that Moda still makes these as I could not find any evidence they still sell them.
