It's All Going Pete Tong

I like to think I can find my way around the X5 but recently I feel I'm being tested:

1. The ABS lights are on after an emergency stop, diagnostic required to identify if another sensor needs changing, and why.

2. The a/c stopped blowing cold and the tell tale 'snow flakes' from the centre vents suggest the system needs topping up.

3. The final stage resistor gave up yesterday, annoying little thing to extract too.

A couple of hundred £££ should sort it with parts and fridge gas but I'm starting to think it's time to move it on, can't seem to get by a month without something else to fix or adjust.

Not usually one to give up easily but I'm losing faith in it all together so will be prepping it for sale soon, despite all the niggles being fixed.

:explode:

Hi, its at 72K now, I have no idea of the history having owned it for just over 18 months.

I've done all the other repairs myself as a 'competent enthusiast' with more than a few years experience under my belt... no repeat faults I would like to add

Anyway, of all the various cars and bikes I've owned, this one is the one I least trust not to let me, or more importantly my wife down.

Having had a long chat with said wifey (she keeps me sane) it's perhaps more sensible to go with the flow, despite my concerns over the seemingly endless niggles.

If it's a keep and soldier on kinda thing I am after a gearbox to strip and rebuild in readiness for a major failure, which seems inevitable on the earlier models like mine.

Lol, sold my near concourse 1999 323i to finance this monster, that'll learn me....

Hang in there big fella....besides i would miss them stories you tell like the pigeon tale;).
I know how you feel sometimes though ....mine has just developed another 'knock' when you pull away so it's under investigation:rolleyes: i'm guessing a bush of some sort.I'm wondering if replacing the subframe bushes has made the other components feel a little tired:dunno:

Right, girlie hissy fit over, fridged up and chillin' like a mofo, hedgehog purchased although the fan seems fine now even before the re-gas...

Just the diagnostic to book in, should be ok.

On the bright side, found what seems to be a good indie just a few miles from home, bonus. They got quite excited to have a shufty at the monster and even though a few other beemers were there mine was the biggest (belly). :guinness:

On reflection I think I may have been a tad uptight about a job interview this week, maybe I was more wound up than I realised.
