Anyone use the Air bag bypass sensor???

Hello UK, greetings from across the pond. I have an airbag issue that is fairly common to the E53 and have ordered a bypass sensor from an eBay seller located in The UK. I have inquired in the US forums as to if anyone has any experience using this sensor with no luck. So I am inquiring if any X5 owners in the UK have used this sensor. Here is the link to sensor I have ordered. BTW I have a 2006 3.0 liter with a production date of August 2006. Thank you all. Feel free to PM me with any information.

Only just seen this sorry. Not come across anyone on the Xdrivers forum who has used such, but then as an airbag fault now results in the car failing it's annual fitness check (MOT) it may be that no one would use one.

Without an MOT the driver is uninsurable on the road and if caught on road by one of the thousands of cameras that automatically check MOT, insurance and road tax status, the driver faces losing the car with the threat of it being crushed!

Bad idea to bypass anything in the airbag system. Systems are designed to save lives. Why cut corners*on passenger safety? Maybe find a cheap short cut somewhere else on the vehicle.

The bypass does bypass the air bag. It bypasses the weight seat occupancy sensor and fools the system into thinking someone is in the seat. In this case the air bag will always go off.

Sure about that?

I use them on one of our cars - E46 325. Works well - but as above - by passes the seat mat sensor - so the car thinks there is always a passenger - so if an impact, the passenger airbag will always deploy even if no occupant. Obviously need to be careful when selling on/baby seats used in the front...
