Hartge x pipe

so i am battling with an X pipe install, the welds keep leaking, its wasn't done well. anyhow. i want to get my hands on a hartge x pipe. part number 18 53 0755 N
where can i find one?

X5 Meister 03-22-2009 06:31 PM

The company was running a special on them, like 50% or something. Contact Germany or their US distributor. Personally I think they look great.

See the last post on this thread:

i emailed them, it would nice to get a deal on one. my buddy and i snotted on an xpipe and it just keeps leaking. i fix it, then it leaks. i fix it again, then it leaks.

that hartge x pipe will force me to cut my exhaust behind the cats, then clamp on? the realoem.com site shows clams there, but that is not the case, it was pipe from the cats to the resonator.

you know ballpark what the price was?

X5 Meister 03-22-2009 06:39 PM

Yeah, sometimes you get what you pay for in life. Hartge stuff is pretty solid and high quality. They have setups for 4.4, 4.6is, 4.8is and ran around 250 euros with VAT, which you should be able to avoid paying. Don't know about shipping costs.

tonycajjo 03-22-2009 07:54 PM

VAT?

X5 Meister 03-22-2009 08:40 PM

But they don't carry anything for the X5 do they?

tonycajjo 03-22-2009 11:14 PM

i did shoot an email their way as well. i hope to hear from someone.

im going on vacation wednesday and hope to have one on my door step when i return so i can just chop off the mess i made and have a nice setup going.

my x sounded great when the holes were patched. the stuff i used doesnt seem to last.

tonycajjo 03-22-2009 11:23 PM

is there other companies that sell x-pipes like the hartge? not that i'm bailing on hartge, but i wanna know what my options are.

X5 Meister 03-22-2009 11:40 PM

I would think so yes. Try Alpina, Dinan, etc. What's wrong with the Hartge one? I can't imagine that any other reputable choices will be significantly cheaper.

tonycajjo 03-22-2009 11:43 PM

just for availability sake.

Are you sure it's not the welding that is the issue? If the welds are leaking it's not the pipes fault.

that is correct.:iagree: (see first post)

also it looks like crap so...

X5rolls 03-23-2009 12:38 PM

It would look cleaner I get it. The other option is to remove/cut the pipe, grind off the welds and start over - it would at least save the cost of the new pipe.

Good luck.

hartge 18 53 0755 N @ ggituning.com

www.ggituning.com is a hartge dealer in california. they said the cost was 800$ for 18 53 0755 N which is not honoring any mfg half off discount. i feel that is a bit much for that section of the exhaust. i will keep looking around a used one, or another brand.

X5 Meister 03-23-2009 01:57 PM

Then just order it from Germany with the discount.

X5 Meister 03-23-2009 02:13 PM

Try also contacting a forum member who is in Germany, maybe they can help you out. Hell, maybe you can get a deal. Seems like they are hurting too and need to unload old stuff.

tonycajjo 03-23-2009 06:04 PM

so i was under the x and i couldnt feel a leak around the welds i was concerned about, now i'm wondering if it could be higher up, like the manifold gasket or the seal around where the oxygen sensors are. im still in the market for the hartge x pipe, but i posted this new thread.

I think there is an X5 forum member named Hans_ACS who is based in Belgium who recently installed a HARTGE exhaust. Shoot him a pm about your problem with HARTGE. HTH....

tonycajjo 03-26-2009 02:26 PM

thanks, his PM box is full, but ill try again later on.

tonycajjo 04-14-2009 03:35 PM

still no luck.:dunno:

X5 Meister 04-14-2009 03:53 PM

No luck with what? Hartge?

tonycajjo 04-14-2009 04:10 PM

i emailed every hartge address i found and couldn't get a hold of any of our german friends. i'm putting this one on the back burner for now.

X5 Meister 04-14-2009 05:00 PM

Why don't you just call them?

tonycajjo 04-19-2009 10:29 PM

the phone just rang and rang...

i dropped my exhaust completely and fixed it up. sounds much much better.

X5 Meister 04-21-2009 02:30 PM

they must have been away before, cause i got a response this monday myself. i had dropped the exhaust completly this saturday and welded up the top part which was never done. after all the unexpected money i put into my X this past week, from fluids to gaskets, radiator fans, fan clutch and electric fan motor, to the water pump and thermostat, and the fact that i have yet to pay for my last excursion to hawaii, i think i may have to hold off on this.

dpgx5 12-14-2009 07:44 PM

Hi, X5Meister

Do you have one? If so how do u like it? Your inbox was full

X5 Meister 12-15-2009 12:07 AM

Nope never got one. Honestly while I can appreciate louder exhausts, they get annoying when you just want to relax and listen to music, especially classical, etc.
