Lance from Ecstuning told me these will not fit an X6 because it runs a 14mm bolt and the adapters are compatible with 12mm only. Please confirm fitment.

Thanks.

There was some incorrect information thrown around regarding these - any of these spacers will work correctly with your X6, in addition to the adapters listed in the link above. It is true, however, that you will require 14mm bolts.

I can't PM yet so here are my questions. For a 2010 X5M with OEM 20" wheels:
  1. I want to make the wheels flush with the fender edge. Do you recommend 10mm or 15mm? which size for front and rear?
  2. Do the spacers come with the 14mm bolts in appropriate length and thread pitch?
  3. What's the price of everything I would need (front and rear) to use them, shipped to 21286?
Thanks for your help.

HI -

Will the following adapters fit the E70 X5 (rear only)...

Home Page > Search > TRAK+ Hub Adapter > ES#1899557 TRAK+ Hub Adapter - 15mm - 3075740725

Home Page > Search > TRAK+ Hub Adapter > ES#1905746 TRAK+ Hub Adapter - 20mm - 4075740725

I'm trying to put X6 Style 232 wheels on my E70 X5. I know the fronts are fine, but I will need adapters for the rear. Please advise. Thank you.

ECS, We need the part # for 74 mm to 72.5 mm adapter.

brian5 10-24-2011 04:12 AM

LeMansX5,

In this post, Ameritrades said this (and more):

There are new hub adapter spacers that convert the 74mm hub (e70) to 72.5mm hub (the rear on the e71)...
this avoids the boring out of the rear wheels. Link below:

Home Page > Search > es1899557 es1905746 > ES#1899557 Wheel Adapter - 15mm (DRA) - 3075740725

They are 15mm H&R spacers (best out there) and require extended lug nuts. ECS tuning sells them.

what is needed:

15mm Wheel Adapter Spacers (comes as a pair)
Part number 1899557
$124.76

Extended Lug Nuts
Part number 252737 (comes as a set of 5) 2 sets are needed
$12.95 per set

Thanks. I wanted ECS to confirm as they have told otherwise to some members as per other thread.

You're best bet is going to make some quick measurements of the gap between the outside of the wheel to the inner fender lip. The pdf found HERE will help you make the measurements. From there you can decided how aggressive you'd like to get with the spacers.

The H&R adapters found HERE adapt a larger 74mm series hub to a smaller 72.5mm. We only have them currently listed as perfect fitment on E39s on our site. But due to the shared hub size they should be the ones needed.

If someone needs to go the other way taking the 72.5mm to a 74mm hub then Hub Centric Ring Adapter are an easy way to convert your smaller hub to match a larger hub.

Hi -

If I get the 15mm adapter (p/n ES#1899557), what lug bolts do I need to get? I was told I need 14x1.25x45mm to use this adapter for my 2008 X5. If so - can I order these from your website as well? Thank you.

The rule of thump is to take the stock length bolt (30mm) and add the size of the spacer, 15mm in your case. So I would want a 45mm bolt, the size you where told is correct. This should give you at least 6 full rotations of thread depth, anything less than that is a bit risky and I'd advise against it. We currently offer 43mm and 50mm bolts in the size required for your SAV. Our lug bolt selection can be found here.

koolkat1973 10-24-2011 01:13 PM

Since you no longer carry the 45mm length bolt, do you think it would be wised for me to get the 43mm bolt instead. Or should I order the 50mm bolt instead? I don't know if that is going to be too long. Please advise. Thank you.

Kiet,
I typically prefer to use longer bolts over shorter bolts. But without having an X5 with your wheels that i could test fit the bolts on I can not say for cretin the 43mm bolts will provide you enough full rotations to properly attach the wheels to the hub with the spacer. The longer 50mm bolts may bottom out and there for not snugly hold the wheel to the hub causing more issues.

Have you guys discontinued carrying the 45mm bolts?

The 45mm bolts are no longer available, we are working to find a new manufacture to make them to our specs but have not found one which builds the bolts which meet and/or exceed our requirements.

So do you think I can go with the 20mm TRAK adapter instead of the 15mm?

Home Page > Search > TRAK+ Hub Adapter > ES#1905746 TRAK+ Hub Adapter - 20mm - 4075740725

I went ahead and order the following from ECS Tuning.

- Conical Seat 14x1.25x43mm Wheel Bolt - Priced Each ES#263932
- TRAK+ Hub Adapter - 15mm ES#1899557

Hopefully - the 43mm length lug bolt is sufficient enough with the 15mm spacers for my X6. I'll provide feedback once I receive it and put the wheel on the X5. Thanks everyone for your help.

Kiet,

Did you complete this installation? Are you satisfied? Any issues, vibration? How's the look? Pics?

Thanks!

I never went through with this. I was quite nervous with the fact that nobody seem to have the right length bolt (45mm) for the 15mm spacers. I ended cancelling my order and sold the X6 wheels.

Just for future reference, it should be noted that these TRAK+ Hub Adapter are NOT designed for the E70 X5 and would require some machine work and compromises if you want to use them.

They come with 12mm bolts, with low-profile heads, for connecting to the hub. The adapter also has 12mm holes for connecting to the wheels.

These will not work as-is for the E70 X5 as that uses 14mm bolts with regular heads.

The only way that I see that you could these adapters is:
1. to buy an additional set of 10 x 14mm bolts
2. grind down the heads of the these 14mm bolts so they don't jut out from the hub adapter. Attach hub adapter to hub.
3. attach the wheel to the adapter using the supplied 12mm low-profile head bolts (I don't know if this is potentially a fit problem for the wheel -- probably not).

Can you imagine trying to explain to a wheel/tire shop how to install/remove these adapters every 6 months though??? I'd be stuck doing my winter and summer wheels changes for the rest of my time with this X5...

So I'm back to exploring the wheel boring option... Otherwise, I'm going to sell two used two used X6 rear wheels and buy another two for X5 :(
