european auto source (eas) is pleased to announce our Source Selector Module which will allow you to retain your Stock CD Changer with your ice>Link Plus kit.

OK I'm interested and may get an Icelink if I can do this.

carlos3679 12-06-2005 07:35 PM

this changes everything...now that you don't have to eliminate your CD Changer I may consider getting Icelink

X5 Sport 12-06-2005 07:53 PM

How much will it be and when will we be able to buy it ? And when will I be able to purchase one in the UK.

X5 Sport 12-06-2005 07:56 PM

ooops just read your post again $85 So that means £85 in rip off off UK

Anyone coming over from the States in the next couple of weeks?

Which brings up my question. Does the icelink plus work in a 2005 X5 with Navi and DSP? What would I have to order to make this whole thing work and keep my CD Player?

Being that you have a MY2005, more than likely you have analog DSP. You will need our trunk interface kit and analog Source Selector.

Everything is in stock and ready to ship.

Tom, is this the same unit as Dension offered for a while now ? I checked my Dension price list, and there is an AUX selector on there for 49 euro.....

This is not a Dension piece. Dension is still in development of their AUX3 kit (not a source selector).

That is a nice feature. How do we select the source ipod or cd? For example I am listening to a CD from the changer and want to switch the ipod.

The Video Source Module looks for a ground for a trigger source to activate that specific video input. This can be routed to an external switch or the e-brake, your choice.

For liability purposes - we recommend the emergency brake.

I think you answered for the Video source module (other thread) and not the audio source module but I assume it is the same idea. Basically to activate either CD or IPOD input i just have to add a switch which will ground either the CD or IPOD source, right?
I have DSP and CD changer can you please PM the different parts that I would need to purchase to make it work?
Thanks

Audio can be switched by moving to AUX mode. Video will need the ground connected either through a switch or eBrake.

The kit is the same for DSP or non DSP vehicles, AUX is always an analog signal.

Hello Tom,

Can you please take me step by step through it:

Let us say,I am listening to the cd changer and the ipod is plugged in, how can I switch between them (will there be a new AUX mode on the NAV screen???)

Thanks,

Ghani

This is essentially a switching device, no additional mode is granted in the system. an external switch is mounted (in the cargo area or otherwise) and this will switch between the CD Changer or ice>Link.

This makes it MUCH easier to retain both devices without the need for remove the cabling from one device and connecting to the next.

ghani 12-09-2005 05:51 PM

Ok,

any pictures of the switch?

Thanks,

Ghani

We spoke via phone - email sent!

Hans_ACS 12-10-2005 05:50 AM

so when the switch is in the trunk, you have to stop your car, go to the trunk and perform the switch ? Would be nice to have this switch upfront I guess.

X5 Sport 12-10-2005 07:01 AM

I did think that too but, there must be a issue with that otherwise they would have done that.

A lot of people ask this question, to be perfect honest - there is a reason it is in the trunk. It forces the user to turn the key off and activate the switch.

The kit was intended for use with the ice>Link, it can probably be used on other devices as well. I've had this setup on my 5-series for almost a year now and it supports switching on the fly - it may or may not work on your vehicle, it's always safe to have the key off.

Quite honestly, most people will rarely use the switch. Once the ice>Link is installed - the CD Changer is easily forgotten.

Anyone fitted one of these yet ? mine should be on it's way across the pond as we speak. Cant wait to get it fitted along with my ice link.

Question: does this also work in other vehicles? So with other brands of Headunits ? Eg VW, Audi ?

We only specialize in BMW - this wouldn't work in the VW/Audi platforms.
