How would you plan on getting one if it isn't being imported.

The member "Watrob" is in Australia and just took delivery of his X5 M Sport. So I guess they are still ordering them.

I will post some photo's in the next day or so. I pick the X5 up tomorrow evening. I had it briefly on late Friday night to test the new 6mm offset castor bushes but the X5 had to go back on Monday to get the balance of work done.

Monday the calipers were removed, black matte gidney grills installed, 7500k fogs & angels eyes. The yellow calipers & cermac pads went on late this afternoon (Tuesday), towbar is now installed also. Tomorrow is 20% tint, another wheel alignment, pre-delivery and then pickup at about 4:30pm.

Good thing you get to use the EURO hitch that comes up from underneath... you gotta cut the bumper cover for the US spec hitch, which involves cutting a portion if the bumper trim away to make room. I wouldn't feel right cutting into that bumper on the M///

I will post a photo, they still have to make a 50mm wide slice about 20mm deep into the rear skirt!

LVR said X5 M, not M Sport.

My bad. I still doubt that they would not import the X5M just because "they don't like it."

This is an excellent thread with a lot of keen observations. I do not think the full-body color "kills" the look on the ///M. Yes, the black trim does look sweet for the majority of us that have it on our E70s and E53s. But looks always "evolve", and I don't think the ///M HAS to have the contrasting trim to look bad-ass. The main things that it DEFINITELY needs IMO are: 1) larger wheels 2) roof rails 3) fog lights. I am hoping the first 2 of these will be easy-to-order factory options. And while I realize 'M' cars have not had fog lights, rules are made to be broken. That would really complete the look. After all, they've already broken the rule by making an 'M' SUV. That would have been sacrilege 10 years ago.

None of the ///M cars have fog lights.

M cars aren't usually 5200lb suv's!

Truth be told, they could wrap the car in dog poo and I would probably still love it.

But secretly something has been bothering me about the X5 and X6 ///M and I think I just realized what it is.

First, lets look at a picture.

http://www.xoutpost.com/members/lema.../E70-X5-13.jpg

While I really like the lines of this car, for some reason, it doesn't look like the nicest X5 I've ever seen. Not even the nicest E70. But I think I figured out why:

http://resource.bmwusa.com/image_45d...59d0f24b9.arox

Take a look at the 4.8i above. Then take a look at the //M.

Does it pop out? The issue?

The 4.8i looks more aggressive. And I think it's because:
1) The wheels
2) The step up bars
3) The roof rack

I know it might sound silly but I think the ///M is missing some trim features that would really give it more presence. And since those items are standard on the 4.8i, I'm a little surprised they don't exist on the ///M.. Maybe they will be added before delivery or an option?

Now start to imagine the ///M with the step up bars and roof rack and it seems to be, a little more complete...

Am I making sense here?

Just wait till we see it in person... Then we can compare. For me, too much accessories = to much bling = less sporty.
