The X5M nickname thread...

I have decided that I hate typing, X5M and ///X5M.
We all know why the car can't be called the ///MX5 which would make a lot more sense and be easier to speak and type..

So, in this thread, I propose we give the X5M a nickname.

Just like the Cayenne is the Pepper.

We need a good nickname for the X5M that is better than X5M.

My first proposition is:
///M70

You hitting 3 more keys to type ///M70 than X5M. Besides M70 sounds like Infiniti.

Well, pitch in an idea.. X5M is a tongue twister. MX5 is really the right name for it.. So, we need a nickname.

Either that or I'm just going to have to call it a M5, which it's not. But I hate saying, X5M.

How about M5X?? or is that to close to MDX? :dunno:

HIRISC 09-24-2009 10:11 PM

I think M5X is a Miata, but I'm fine with it.

Nobody who owns a Miata says 'MX5', do they?

Yes. Most Miata owners I know refer to them as MX5s.

You're insane.

You don't like saying it or you don't like typing it? I can understand that X5M doesn't roll nicely off your tongue but it's easier to type than ///M70 and how would you say ///M70 anyway

It's the "Beast" or you can just call it the M in conversation.

Well, I don't know about it sounding like an Infiniti but the BMW M70 was a real product! It's a V12 engine from 20 years ago. :)

I have a nephew with a Miata. They DEFINITELY call them MX5s. "Miata" is a such a wimpish name...

Hey B-Line, As much as I'd like to have one (and yes, I'll admit I'm envious), there shouldn't have been a X5M in the first place -- the M should have been reserved for the sporty, agile cars.

It's probably more appropriate to call it the X5is...
