X5///M - Underneath Pics

Was detailing the rockers of the X up on the lift and thought I'd take a look at the underneath.

Pretty impressive (and clean for the moment) technologically under there. The oil change looks simple (even if it's included in the first 4 years), but the suspension is not for non-trained.

The exhaust looks like it could be pricey to replace. We'll see :)

Won't stay clean for very long around here. Where you live too ;)

I ran out of garage space last year and the best solution (and a good excuse) was to get a four post lift. It's awesome for detailing, storage, and wrenching on cars that I can still work on (not the X5///M).

Agreed! I never thought I'd use a lift as much as I do! Simple things like swirl mark removal, waxing are SO much easier - my knees thank me daily, haha.

Thanks for the pics! Until our X6M arrives, we will have to live vicariously through you and the other lucky ones who have already taken delivery..... *green with envy*

My understanding is, the only difference between the comfort seats and the regular seats (excluding the perforated option for ventilation and the electric lumbar) is,
The comfort seats are the exact same except there is one more adjustment that is added for the upper portion of your back.
- It kind of splits the seat back into two sections, lower and upper back.

But since I've never once used the upper back setting on my 7 series, I didn't think I needed it.

Drool, dribble and more drool. Love your lifts and the garages, and the cars too!

Cheers,

Nice pics of the underside of the car. Yeah the exhaust looks like a big piece of metal. I'm sure any aftermarket ones will be expensive. After test driving it again, I think I'll be happy with the stock exhaust. It's nice that it gets loud in M mode. Does it have resonators that can possible be removed, should one want it even louder than that?

I'm guessing so.. My Z06 has the same exhaust 'butterflies'.. I pulled the fuse on day 2 :)

I think I'll leave the /// as is.

:dunno:

Not yet. I haven't been in contact with my service advisor in a few weeks. My own fault, haha.
My wife is buying the X6M for herself - as soon as she heard there was an X6 that might be able to take down the new M3 in a straight line, she immediately said "Ooooooh....... REALLY....." (I think it took exactly two days to get the order placed).

I love my wife, haha....

 The exhaust note changes when you press the M button. Leaving always on M note is not a bad idea.

Well, those of you with cars already, please work out how to leave it permanently on! :) It must be a fuse or a simple mod like that. Could be the best mod on these cars given the complaints on the exhaust note. Btw, some of argued that the V8 isn't a big block therefore you can't expect that much. Well my Aston V8 Vantage is only a 4.3 and it sounds like a nice, loud, refined muscle car! Then there is my C63 (but of course this is a 6.2litre engine) which to my ears sounds even better.
