Yes, the second one will open when you use the M mode is my understanding! Anyone know a way of keeping it open permanently?

Im picking mine ( my wife's ) X5M up this afternoon. Im sure I can find a way around this if a little more exhaust note is needed.

I don't really think so. Way too new.

If there is enough interest, we could get someone like Akrapovic to build one! I love their M3 full titanium system. Likewise with their OEM GT2 exhaust...

Im going to build one for my car very soon. Wont be titanium , I will use polished stainless steel.

I konow on the current Vette it is as easy as removing a fuse. Any chance it it that easy on the X5 M???

It looks like a simple vacuum line going to the one tip pull it off, plug it and you should be good to go. Might be a light on on the dash, let us know if you do it.

:D Went to my local BMW's dealer to check out the new ///M X5/ ///M X6 and took it for the spin...

I disconnected the rubber hose (around the muffler tip) from the solenoid and attached a small screw to the hose to prevent anything going in there.

My impressions:
1-The car feels more responsive, I took it to a back road and stepped on it. For some reason (maybe my imagination, the tach needle moves a bit quicker and reaches 3 digits faster)
2-The interior sound has barely increased, almost unnoticible. But the sound on the outside (driving with the window down) is a bit deaper.
3- I noticed the MPG dropped a little when cruising but when I engage the Cruise Control the MPG went back to normal.

Maybe is psycological or maybe there is a better flow and sound. I don't know. One thing for sure now I like it and if the MPG drops too much or anything else happens, I just plug the hose back into the solenoid.

Are there any video comparisons between the stock exhaust with open valve vs. closed valve? :dunno:
