New X5M delivered with damage!

How many have received their new car with damage? I oredered mine, waited 45 days, the car was delivered from Spartanburg to the dealer and then the dealer screwed it up during PDI/detailing. Now I am driving a loaner car while I wait for repairs - I am a bit upset to say the least too. My new 93k truck is being dismantled, I am considering cancelling/unwinding the deal!

That's really unfortunate. What type of damage?

1. The main center radiator was hit with a high pressure washer - it looks like you took a screwdriver and scraped it up and down (6-12") in several areas, very noticeable.
2. Somehow the rubber window seal on the driver's side cargo area was cut and a 1-2" chunk of rubber is torn out.

The entire radiator and entire window need to be replaced. BMW came out and declined replacing both items. They stated the damage was done by the dealer, so the dealer is covering them both. I am just upset as this is a brand new, specal order car that is now being dismantled by the dealer, of which I have little faith in - their carelessness caused the damage to begin with. The window looks to be a very intricate job too.

FYI - To make matters worse, the replacement window received from BMW now has a TV antenna (looks like a defroster). They state that this is now the only window produced by BMW. I thnk this is the non-US spec window and cannot believe that the window without the antenna is not made all of a sudden - and that BMW is installing windows in US destined X5's with antennas that are not connected or used! (I have another thread inquiring about the part number if anyone knows it).

That is very unfortunate. If you are leaning towards keeping it, I'd insist on the most experienced technician doing the work and then I'd go there to meet him in person. If they flip the job to a newer technician I'd have less confidence.

It sound like the lot attendant got carried away with the pressure washer. I say let them fix it and start driving your M. People make mistakes, don't let that stop you from driving the most amazing SAV on the market.

WOW. :wow:
I wouldn't walk away. Make them fix it to your liking. I see you're in So Cal like me. May I ask, which dealer???

With regard to the technician, yep I have demanded the most capable and skilled guy they have - who knows what good that is though?

As far as my car - I have thought about both options - keep it or leave it? It is exactly what I wanted in every way and I agree how impressive the SUV is. It's just that for the cost of this NEW car - I don't think it is unreasonable to expect it to be delivered in perfect condition. I don't feel the same having the dealer doing god knows what with my car.

FYI - BMW of Monrovia

Have you at least called around to see if you can snag another allocation?

Man, that is a complete buzz-kill.:(

It's your decision, but I would by-pass the dealer and take it up on a major level with BMW Corporate. Do NOT take delivery of the truck. Tell them you paid for a mint $93K truck and explain to them what has occurred. If you do not mind the wait, tell them the dealer can use this one as a floor model, and that you demand a different X5M. Also, if you have any attorney friends ask him/her to type it up on legal letterhead. Can't hurt to try and swap out.

Not yet, I just started considerring this option. Worst case, I will have to wait a while to get another one built. Are they still difficult to get on order?
