Just placed order on x5 m

So i went in to see the X5 M that arrived at Rasmussen BMW and fell in love. But fortunately im still fairly patient and decided to order one exactly how i wanted. I opted for a Saph. Black with Sakhir Orange interior with Carbon Leather trim. Of course i've added a whole bunch of other options, so now the wait begins!! Im replacing a Lexus RX330 with this car as my new winter/ski vehicle!!

HIRISC 12-02-2009 11:00 PM

Congrats!!!

da3bous 12-02-2009 11:07 PM

The others are a 94 Lancia Integrale, 05 STi (450 awhp), 08 335xi

da3bous 12-02-2009 11:24 PM

haha whats up Rez...yeah i don't want to break the news yet on m3forum lol. But i've been wanting to replace the RX for awhile and this seems like a logical choice. Im ordering some Pirelli Studless winters and going skiing once it arrives!!

chilliwilli 12-02-2009 11:41 PM

That's gonna be one helluva winter ski hooliganmobile ...congrats

vitaman 12-03-2009 10:42 AM

Sounds like a great color combo. Have you seen the Orange leather in person? Seems like a great way to dress up a Black car.

da3bous 12-03-2009 11:09 AM

No i haven't, so its kind of a gamble. But all real world photos i've seen have shown that it is more red than orange. My M3 is Silver Gray with Imola Red interior, so a wild interior has always been my thing!!

da3bous 12-04-2009 06:50 PM

Got my production number im status 112 with a projected build date of 1/2/10

So what is the spec on the one that Rasmussen has in?

da3bous 12-04-2009 07:44 PM

Saph Black on Black with soft close doors, rear climate, power tailgate, comfort access, sat radio, premium sound, tech package

I believe i might be missing a few things i remember it being around 93k

vitaman 12-05-2009 09:26 AM

They always seem to play it safe with Black or Silver Exterior and Black Extended (not Full) Interior on the ones they order for Stock.

Yeah that is why i figured 7 weeks wasnt too bad of a wait. I even told them they could be a little bold with their stock orders occasionally because someone like me will come around that wants it. Its just the economy and flooring costs make it prohibitive for them.

The lexus wasn't terrible. I did the Pass (I5 through the sisquous and shasta) last year during that terrible snow storm that left i5 covered in snow and ice and i was cruising through the pass (very twisty) at 60+mph with my snow tires, it was a blast. In the X5 it'll be even better I bet. But i will say Lexus trucks are great, I also have a LX570 in Saudi Arabia that is my daily driver/Beach Cruiser and that drives great and not like a huge SUV at all. The only country i could justify that car in, since ill go out to the desert and the dunes and it costs under 30 USD to fill her completely up lol.

the LX570 is a beast. that and the land cruiser are arguably one of the best off roading vehicles made.

So since i was putting snows on the stock rims, i already started thinking 5 months in advance that i wanted some aftermarket rims slightly bigger. Found these at HRE they look like the stock rims sort of but with a huge lip and come in a 21 or 22. Not sure if 22 would be too big or not.

I prefer 21. 22" will have harsh ride.

da3bous 12-14-2009 11:21 AM

so i knew this was coming. I started thinking more and more about whether i really wanted a black car. I have always loved white cars, there is a simple elegance and white always shows every little finite detail of a car. So i've changed my order to white with sakhir orange. lol i promise last time im changing the color!!

HIRISC 12-14-2009 11:45 AM

Good call :) (I'm biased)

Good choice.
The same combo as I have driven as a test Car.
Find attach some pics of the combo.
Note:
The X5M was equipped with winter tires. For me entirely well looking for the purpose

vitaman 12-14-2009 05:01 PM

Like the red interior with the piano black trim.
Pretty car inside and out.

Rez 12-14-2009 08:33 PM

white and red looks hot, good choice

+1.

Looks great!

da3bous 12-14-2009 09:39 PM

wow thanks for posting those pics!!!! definitely will not regret this decision! Funny thing is i did the same thing with my E46 m3. I had originally ordered Carbon Black on Imola then switched to Silver Gray. Now thinking about it, i wish i did alpine white on imola it would have been super rare

Interesting combo. In US Sakhir is offered in Full leather only.
Yours is extended.

Meiac09 12-15-2009 08:01 AM

I prefer the extended to the full when theres red or any color for that matter. Even on an M3.

I'd LOVE to drive an X5M in Germany. Can't think of a better car to have there. I however would need one hell of a salary for the gas. That can't get good mileage at 240 km/h

To the OP: Nice upgrade!

kamichael 12-15-2009 11:24 AM

Color is one of the biggest choices when ordering a new vehicle - I bought 2 08's and 1 09 in Alpine White and give it a big thumbs up. I believe that BMW's white is one of the sharpest on the road today, great choice and no apologies are necessary.

hmm, thats confusing me.:dunno:
In the german configurator the Sahkir ist called "full leather" too.
And you have to pay an extra of 2.450,- € in contrast to the standard like "silverstone" which is offered as "extended" and free of charge

jasonrhcastle 12-15-2009 04:26 PM

That is full leather in picture...Look at the top of the doors above the carbon leather trim, it is the same nappa that is in my car.

Ty Vil 01-08-2010 08:01 PM

As stated in the previous thread I have pretty good info that the Da3bous' X5 is built on the way to the VPC...

My former Cayenne Turbo S "ate" around 36 l / 100 km at Vmax (aprox. 280 kph). I suppose that the X5 M with M Driver's Package (Vmax raised to 275 kph) I ordered will eat up at least 30 liters at that speed.

Lets do the math:

100 km = 62 mph
30 l = 7,93 gal

Result: I get at Vmax aprox. 7,82 mpg if I'm right. Ouch. :D

Another interesting fact: one liter of 98 octane (aprox. 95 octane US) fuel costs over here ~ 1.45 EUR or 2,04 USD.

Meaning: one GALLON of premium fuel costs in Germany...hold your breath...7,72 USD.
Do you guys still want to complaint about high fuel prices in the US ?! :tapping:

I really like those HRE wheels. Does anyone know if they come in a gray (titanium)? I prefer that over the silver for a black X5M.

Just an FYI: 98-99 RON fuel in Europe is equivalent to our 93-94 AKI fuel. In other words, "SuperPlus" is roughly equivalent to our "Super."

And yes, we still have it really, really good. Other than the fuel price spikes a few years ago, that is!

Haha already ordered them in 22"...not cheap. But HRE wheels you can order in basically any color you want.
