Thoughts after 1300 miles in X5 M
Squeaky brakes stopped after 3 panic stops from 70 mph. Hope it lasts. Hint-dont do this in M mode, the vehicle downshifts so aggressively that if you have to accelerate halfway thru you'll have a chance to redline.
Best review of X5 M I've run across: 2010 BMW X5 M - Top Speed On most vehicles my presets would be radio stations, on X5 M first 3 are Nav changes: 1) Voice 2) night mode 3) perspective I've had 2 M5s and 2 X5s, and I am impressed with what BMW has accomplished. Wife complains about cost, this vehicle is loaded so sticker $99,000 and dealer knew he could sell it at that, but it is sweet. Love the ride + power, seats more than decent, not used to i drive, but getting there. Lousy weather so car not pretty enough for photos right now. |

Will agree. I really like the little touches. The ability to program functions other than just radio stations. #1 Nav home #2 my assistant #3 my wife Don't tell my wife that my assitstant is before her. |
Squeaky brakes back
Temp 23. Brakes squeak again, but only in reverse. How wierd is that. Wonder how fast I can go in reverse to panic stop??

M5s
I got my first M5 in '87, an inline 6, great balance, best engine BMW ever had, kept it 13 years. Next in 2001 was a V8, not nearly as good a handling car, but much more luxury features. Its M power button was special, I really regret trading that one in on my first X5. I thought the V10 M5 just wasn't nearly as good at handling, too front heavy, so I went large. The X5 M is awesome if you like the size. I like sitting up, great visability, not going to motocross in it.
