Interior Options on X5 M
Hi All,
So I placed an order for a '11 X5 M, and I am debating my color choices. I really like the cinnamon leather...looks very rich and special, but they don't make it perforated for the active/ventilated seats! I was thinking Silverstone II, but is it really going to get dirty all the time? I wouldn't want to have to live/worry about that. Are the active/multi-contour seats really much better than the standard? I would love ventilated seats, but have to weigh if it would be worth it vs. cinnamon interior! Any comments/suggestions? |
I've had leather seats for the last 20 years. Looking forward to the ventilation this summer. I vote for comfort over looks.
|
From what I've read an heard, cinnamon looks lighter in person and may not be the best of colors...I still like the idea of it though, but not sure if it is worth giving up the comfort/active/ventilated seats...which I hear are much better than the standard sports seats...
Can anyone who has sat in both seats comment? Would be interested in knowing if it is substantialy better with the comfort. |
The comfort seats are the best automotive seats built hands down. If I could only get one option on any car, it would be the comfort seats. The 20-way seats make the standard seats feel like a wood bench in comparison. I would pay 2x what they charge for those seats (shhh..don't tell them that) Once you try them you will wonder how you ever lived without them.;)
I to wanted the cinnamon interior and had my dealer attempt to special order vented seats in cinnamon but BMWNA declined my request to build them. I think cinnamon is the most natural looking color for leather and I have liked it since BMW offered it in the E46 M3. However after having a X5M demo last weekend with the standard seats (to confirm my seat selection), I am going to stick with the comfort seats and forego cinnamon for the comfort seats in Bamboo interior (same color that I have in my M3 convertible). You will regret it if you don't pay up for the best seats now. But don't take my word for it, go check them out yourself at the local dealer. BMW uses the same comfort seats in all their models, so even if they don't have an X5 with them, surely they will have a 5 or 7 series with the comfort seats. Quote:

Congrats!
yes the silverstone will require additional cleanings vs. a darker color. Even the sand beige nappa seats in my wife's 3.5d show stains on the side seat bolster (both top and bottom) from blue jeans when you slide in and out. Not sure if the merino leather wears better than nappa, guessing that it will as it doesn't seem as soft as the nappa. See my note above about the comfort seats...absolutely without a doubt you should get the comfort seats:thumbup: So I placed an order for a '11 X5 M, and I am debating my color choices. For the record I have the standard seats and think they are quite comfortable and have no complaints about them.
|
I have the full leather, active vent seats in Bamboo and love them. Fantastic. Almost went with Cinnamon, but really wanted the vent seats for summer.

Ring is right on.
This is what makes this Forum really useful. This is solid real world info that you can make decisions with. The Cinnamon is exquisite but you will regret not getting the better seats every time you sit down. |
i regret not getting the comfort seats...i think the sport seats are f$*%*$ terrible...no support
|
Did anyone see Silverstone interior in person? I haven't been able to...just pictures.
I am thinking of maybe going Monte Carlo blue and Silverstone, but if I am cleaning the seats every single day, probably not... |
Hey guys, I have read that you don't have to pay extra for the comfort seats over the M seats? Do the M seats coke standard?
|
The active ventilate seats are an option which I believe is $2,100 in the US. Not sure about CA.
|
In Canada comfort seats are not suppose to be available, it's not in the standard ordering menu.
But it's doable, if one makes there case to the dealer and BMW Canada headquarters and be persistent and not take no for an answer. I did that last April, spent a month back and forth with them in order to get the comfort seats. |
That's wild...my M had dealer special ordered
Ventilated comfort seats... I paid a premium on the deal |

Hi there,
I do regret chosing the grey interior, as it seems more ivory grey than true grey. I`ve also had to have the drivers seat retreated as it was fading in some spots, and this is only after 20,000kms. Hope this helps........ Cheers |

I had to paid the $400 ZSP special order charge first, then BMW Canada worked out that I need to pay $730 for 456 comfort seat front, then another $1400 for ZJO for comfort seat package, then another $4500 for full merino leather because BMW Canada told me full leather is required to get the comfort seats. So in total I paid an extra $7030 in order to get the 2 comfort seats installed into the car. But I can only have it in black. But look at the bright side, I get heated and ventilated comfort seats with the M badge on the head rest. Only other option was the executive package at $5500. |
Ok here is the msrp
X5m 97900 Exec pack 5900 Merino leather 4500 Dvd 1950 Special order 400 Comfort seats front 1390 Comfort seating pack 750 Total 112790.00 Mine was not ordered, but the dealer ordered as such. An alpine white was also available...I chose Space Grey....love it! Build Nov 2010 |
Mine was billed with the 2010 pricing of 99,900 and my total was 112,430.
$360 difference on paper. But actually you get the DVD option thrown in almost for free compared with 2010 pricing. So I see BMW Canada used my car as an example for dealers to order comfort seats now. |
That's weird I don't have to pay extra for the comfort seat. Here is my break-down:
X6M 99,900 Executive Pkg 5,900 Carbon Leather Trim 0 Extended Merino Leather 0 Special Order 400 |
consider yourself lucky then :)
as of right now comfort seats is still not a officially sanctioned option for the X6M, it has to be done through special order, so either I got screwed or the clerk at BMW ordering didn't know about the need to add option price and let the order slipped through. |
both seats

Finally got to drive my M with the comfort ventilated seats....
Incredible..highly recommend this upgrade. the configurations are endless |
Anyone know if its possible to special order the comfort seats without ventilation in the US? I dont want the vent holes... And dont need the ventilation in Seattle. Wish this was an option like on other E70,E71's
