Xm Tire question

Do you guys know, if the normal, none RunFlat tires can be put on X5M factory rims? Instead of the Run On Flat technology tires?

Will it affect TPM Censors?

WIll the ride be smoother over the bumps?

Any compromise on handling and performance?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to put the non run flats on the same rims and the TPMS should be fine as long as you don't change rims. The ride is probably a bit more harsh with the run flats due to the stiff sidewall design but I doubt there's any real difference in performance and handling.

I recently hit a pothole and the run flats got me home safe and without a hassle. I would choose the run flats over non any day.

You can install them. There was a lot more reason to do so with early RFT models, 5+ years ago. Modern RFTs give up far less to non-RFTs in my opinion.

You won't be able to carry a spare, so you will likely want an air compressor and tire sealant as a temporary fix to get to a tire shop if you do get a flat.

I see, thanks for the answer.

The reason i asked is because, i'am riding on RunFlats 215's Dunlops and it's very harsh, but my 20's on 4.8is had normal none runflats.

I'am getting XM soon and i will probably go with normal tires, i will see the ride on the M first, if it is as harsh as my current E70 set up, then i will definitly go with none runflats

Thanks for the answer, thank god i did not have to rely on my RunFlats yet, they seem to be pretty solid, to be honest.

I have hit some major potholes but they seem to hold up pretty well.

The adaptive drive on the M models really does wonders for 21" compared to the non-adaptive drive - many the guys here are thinking of/done 21".

Cheers,

Cheers,

You mean, XM With 21 dunlops and adaptive drive is amazing?

I have it on E70 and it is in deed very good in corners, but ride quality over small potholes is bad bad bad!

I wish at least roads in my country where very good, but noooo

I'am thinking of putting X6M wheels on the X5M that i will get

Yes.

No, tires don't matter to the TPMS.

Will the ride be smoother over the bumps?
Yes, definitely will be.

Non run flats most times have better handling and performance and are generally about $100/cheaper per tire.
With the X5M you can get the spare from BMW for $150, so makes the run flats even less compelling to me.

Thats exactly what i'am thinking, could not agree more.

These run flats are killing my car, and they make my X less appealing to me.

I might just go with none runflats on my next X
