It is just me…
Are there quite a few young people with some pretty nice (aka expensive) highly modified cars in Russia? And what is up with parking in the middle of the right lane on a busy highway. Then drag racing with your hazards on.

Well this topic is kind of complicated!

You see...In Russia there is a lot of "new money" from recent years, and they don't lack taste either, so this is the result.

After Soviet Union went from socialist to Market economy, all these stately owned factories and buildings turned in to successfull businesses, that are running on a western styled management

It is not bad, it's just something "new".

I myself am 25 and have fully loaded and modified X I'am from one of those post soviet countries, lot of opportunities and possibilities, if you have "head" on your shoulders

Hope it does not sound too weired for you

Russians are loaded.
They have good taste when it comes to cars..and other stuff ;)
A good friend of mine is Russian, and I am hoping to go and visit Moscow with him soon.

Sort of like kids in Dubai. They have money and buy expensive stuff, but SOME are lacking in taste.

Terrific. Glad to see it. Was not trying to be offensive. Hope you did not take it that way. Just seemed odd.

But I still don't understand the flashers being on. And stopping in the middle of a lane on the highway.

(From 2014) Wow, that sounds nice - I remember when we used to be like that...

Oh forgot to explain that bit.

Well it's kind of like, "Fashion" if you will...that's to tell everyone (people who drive past and around) that they are racing and driving very expensive cars, so that means they belong to a group of young guys, who drive expensive cars who have money and taste and race against each other.

It's kind of a statement.

It is probably hard for some of you to grasp that but thats how it is... just like one of the members has mentioned almost like Dubai.

Young fellas dressed in Armani, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Yives Saint Lauren driving expensive cars and living the high life

Oh and should i mention Women?!;)

Anyways, hope i put it the correct way

So...it is kind of like hey I have money now so I can be an inconsiderate ass if I want and everyone else has to deal with it? This was a public highway, right? Where people drive with their families and there are idiots who do this on a regular basis?

jigaro 04-01-2010 03:59 PM

I was kind of waiting for this one.

I could care less about those situations, but when i watch these videos i think they wait untill there is noone around them on a highway, not to put anyone in danger, or their expensive cars.

I think when there is noone around to defend their agenda, like those russian guys, others should stay quit and keep their opinions to themselves.

But i guess it's hard to do so when you are strong opiniated.

To me it's the same shit when in U.S. people talk on the cellphone and do other thousend things at the same time, while driving on a busy highway so...

Blocking two lanes of traffic by staging cars to be raced on a public highway isn't safe...ever. Let alone drag racing from a standstill.

Look back at the X6M/G55 video. These idiots are blocking two lanes of traffic on a busy highway and drag race with cars RIGHT next to them. Now look back at the ML63 Cayenne Turbo video and they are doing the same thing, but this time the roads are wet and they are racing past other cars. You can stand up for them if you wish, but it is rediculous, imo.

I agree as far as the cell phones are concerned, but the U.S. isn't the only country where people are distracted when they drive.
