Getting X6M out of US
Hey, guys!
I want to buy a new X6M through fleetrates.com and have it shipped overseas. Has anybody heard any news or had any experience with this company? |
If you are buying a new ///M then go through a dealer. When buying cars I don't trust a site which does not give their physical address in contact info.
|
I can't go through the dealer, since new cars are not allowed to be exported.
|
I've had no experience with them, but just out of curiosity please explain the advantage of using them. I'm getting the feeling you want a US spec'd X6///M shipped overseas as a new car?, rather than receive it here and owned here and ship?
|
the problem is I am not in US and want to buy the new car and have it shipped overseas. The dealers are not allowed to sell the new cars for export because BMW Europe complains US cars are cheaper and don't let them sell the cars at high markups. The advantage of using this company is they will assume title on their name and reassign the title to me. This way it is considered to be used car and can be shipped overseas. It also means I don't have to pay sales tax.

If you buy through someone you dont know, fly over and check them out. FLight ticket cost you 500 USD. |
you are forgetting that in order to ship you need US title and to get the title you need to pay sales tax.

When I've read the huge prices people pay in other countries, I wondered if that was possible. But don't you have to pay a tax on the other end when you bring in a pre-owned product into foreign countries? What does shipping/insurance cost? First I heard of fleetrates.com but it's intriguing. It looks like they work with a network of dealers across the US that upload their inventory daily to fleetrates.com. Is fleetrates.com the "mother" dealer or broker? Because it seems they are brokering all sorts of products but are not necessarily franchised by BMW (example) to sell their products. How do they order new cars - through one of their network dealers? |

I waited 5 weeks for the title. My car came to me after almost 3 month. I saved 60,000 USD so it was worth waiting. |
What you can do, is ask the shipper to make you an invoice with smaller amount (not too small amount otherwise the customs in your country will have doubts and than check their rate).
It will save you money, or at least will bring you back the US sales taxes. |
