Lucky or unlucky?
I'm lucky enough to have X5M for a few days. What a blast! Trouble is that I have to pay for the fuel. Does this thing suck the juice or what? Struggling to get under 20 litres/100km (12 mpg US) even on the open road. Hate to think of what it would use in stop-start urban driving...

Do tell how you got an X5M for a few days! Feel like a drive up to Brissy?;)

555 hp twin turbo V8, 5000+ lbs, handles like a sports car.......yes it sucks juice! Enjoy!

If gas is a concern then do not even think about the X5M. I can get 20MPG on long distance highway runs at 75-80. But I average 14-16 and drive it hard most of the time. If your not going to use the power then get a more economical model. Otherwise gas and tires will be a regular expense.
In fact today was hanging with a guy in an Audi S5 who thought he could loose me, but he had no chance. Went the fastest I have ever driven a car in my life today and the X5M was solid as a rock. Think I might have been getting 8-9MPG at the time......Steve |
Your 20mpg for 75-80mph highway is way better than what I'm getting as is your 14-16 average.
