Nice job. Like the brake calipers and wheels...black chrome?
|
I had the pleasure of driving this beast tonight and what a blast! It made me that much more excited for the F10 M5. However, I'm definitely going to miss the roar of my V10 engine.
Congrats Neil. The truck looks amazing and even better in person. These pictures don't do it justice. |
Looks nice and clean!
So where's the donut videos????? |
Very nice job. Pretty sic looking for sure !!
Quick question, which Im sure has been talked to death here, anyway, is the 20% tint legal in NY? I know there was some discussion on NYC bust'in balls and all..... also, did you tint the roof glass? |
amazing looking, did u get the 3M shields put on the side skirts?
|
Since you asked...
If i had white, i'd paint the rivets in the wheel well to match body...i wouldn't have gone as dark on the rear tints and not a fan of 215's...Otherwise Creative theme...blends nicely and easy on the eyes. Not worried about attracting attention for no front plates? Just my 50 shekels but i'm sure i'd have to see in person...and maybe take a spin :D (or two). |
Sweet. Nice attention to detail, yaa buddy..

never thought i would like the blacked out look but against the white it sets it off
Nice! enjoy |
grats - definitely will look much better after the spacers.
How'd you manage to keep white plates instead of the puke yellow ones? They let you transfer? BTW, they were stopping people on the 495w on-ramp from the 135n... registration check but you better roll down those windows ahead of time cause that's pretty dark. ;) |
Looks great - nice job with the black 215s! Can you send details of the company that did the trunk roundel in dark black chrome please?
Cheers, |
Looks great! Anyhow, how did you get the "old" NY license plates...I thought the new NY license plates are now the Blue lettering and "gold" background plates...homage to the old NY license plates from the 1970s...

If i'm able to get back to the city on time, i'll try to swing by Bimmerstock and may bump into you gents. |
:wow:Amazing X5m!:wow:
Where did you buy the m badges for the brakes? Thanks:thumbup: |
Neil -
Post pix now that you installed the spacers. |
looking good! you plan on installing clear bra soon?
|
Looks awesome. Well done. I wouldnt change anything. Regarding the plates i am sure he transferred registration. I did the same. I wouldnt let anyone put those plates on my ride, they are an eye sore and a half.
|
Looks great, but keeping those calipers white is going to be a killer ordeal! You'd better go ahead and order some no/low dusting pads asap...my red calipers show enough, I can only imagine white.
I love the dual piston calipers on there as well...it's on my mods to do list on my E53 X5 using 750iL calipers and hangers. |
how did you manage to get the BMW logo blacked out?
|

Did I miss something? His calipers look stock. I still laugh at the X5M front caliper. This HUGE rotor and HUGE caliper with this little ittybitty pad. I havn't pushed the brakes really hard yet but fairly certain they will melt with a couple of really hard track stops. M |
Nope! OVER "BLACKOUT!" lets face it.... a car need to return its reflective ability... its not just to praise our buddy and shower him with Wows! Safety comes first! No reflective component of the beast was spared!
On the other hand, the car is beastly great... I like the backside.... pipes... but I just dont like ALL BLACK theory!....:( |
sorry guys was on vaca !
3m was done at the dealer , entire front end , fenders , rockers , and behind the rear wheels on the bumper ! i havent had a chance to do the spacers yet , but i will soon ! the body shop did the calipers and the m logos , i dont think they are stickers that you can buy |

Looks great!! The white was my second choice in color but since i already had a white car i decided to switch it up and get red, it does stand out a lot more and not for all good reasons! I've seen u around a few times..it does look even better in person! What shop did u use to tint/paint all those pieces?
|
i saw this car in person, very badass and very aggressive- i am going to something very similar when i get my truck- Neil is a great guy- thanks for all your help again bud!
|
Holy crap, Neil!! What a beast!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!!!
|
usually am not a big fan of blacked out mods on a white X.. but u sure did pull it off & it looks like a beast.. am sure pic. dont do justice.. it looks amazing
|
Thanks for the kind words guys !
|
how did you painted gloss blk side gills ? and what about the rear light how you make them darker ?
|
I'm not a big mod fan, but this is surely one of the nicest modded X5s out there, good job.
|
I like it - a lot. I like the white-out concept. Europeans are doing a lot of white luxury/sports cars (not to mention gold and chrome). Yours is the first that I've seen in USA with the clear part of the rear tail lights that was not blacked out. I saw this on TopCar (www.top-car.ru) a few years back. I know there are at least two others in S. Florida who have it like that - I saw the pictures yesterday at Doral Collission Center (parners with Exclusive Motoring) who are going to perform the mods on my car. I saw a Toyota somthing yesterday with the same set up. So, I'm guessing that the concept is finally catching on in America. NOTE TO SELF: follow European modders like Lumma, G-Power, Brabus, etc and car owners all over Morroco, Dubai, UK, etc if ya'll want to know where the best mods originate.
I dunno how much brake dust the M creates, but if your vehicle creates as much as mine, painting the calipers white may looks nice when FRESH, but ... won't they get super dirty super fast? Stay blind to haters (this world is full of em). Your car looks good and it's nice to see someone going beyond what is normally done. I've been looking for BMW owners like you here in S. Florida. |
Hey Don, don't you think you should make your own thread instead of piggybacking off someone elses while you go about bragging about all your obscenely overpriced Lumma parts that are taking months to get to you...oh wait, you did.
|
where did you get the eyelids ? do they have for e 53 ? thnx

Disagreed - "bragging" with no bragging in the post? "Overpriced" when Lumma is competitively priced with Hamaan, G-power, and Mansory? Dude, are you serious? |

Their taillight pricing is ridiculous though...that's like 2-3x as much as the exact some ones found on eBay. |

I agree about the side skirts. Isn't ebay primarily for individual sellers though? Prices should be cheaper. |

Wet sand: 2000 Dish washing liquid NHT Nightshade (pepboys or maybe autozone) A {{good}} clear coat spray Rubbing alcohol I taped the white strip, sanded the lens down (using dishwashing liquid and H2O), put 1 coat of nightshade, then a 2nd, then a 3rd. I lightly snaded that down the same way as I did the first sand, then I applied 4 coats of clear. Color is perfect, but the texture is not. So, I've decided to have the shop that will be doing all of my major mods (Doral Collision Center - Quality, Seamless Auto Body repair, who now owns Exclusive Motoring Gallery - Specializing in Custom wheels, rims and bodykits for your automobile.) salvage it and do it again ($480) because I'd rather have a stronger sheen on the clear coat that spray paint just cannot create. Everyone likes it, I just want it to be "perfect". Point is - YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF. But my car is ultimately going to be a show car, so, I'll need better hands working on it. MAJOR PROBLEM (well, kinda): my gaskets melted in the two center taillights (on hatch). When they melt, the filter becomes like TAR and it gets everywhere and is very, very hard to remove from the car and skin. And I'm no so trusting of GooGone (there is no mention of it being clear coat friendly). BNMW does not sell the gasket separate. So, I'll have to purchase those two ones anyway. I simply brought some bonding tape and created my own gasket for temporary measures. But it took a good 3-4 hours cleaning that crap up. So, be prepared... |
