Anyone Replacing Tires yet?
Are any of you getting close to replacing tires on your M's yet? I have 12.5K miles and still have tread on the OEM Bridgestones but they are worn and getting really loud. Contemplating swapping tires before winter hits and the rains come.
Thinking of going non-runflats with either the Michelin Diamaris or the Michelin Latitude HP's. Leaning toward the HP's due to noise and the rare occassional snow we get in Seattle but am leary due to loss in some performance. I had Diamaris on my 2006 4.4 and thought they were great but they wore fast but were ok in light snow. What kind of mileage do you guys have and what are you thinking about going with? |
I only have 6k on mine, however, I have been looking around for potential alternatives when time comes. The best SAV tire out there is Latitute sport made for porsche, it does not come in X5M sizes :thumbdown
Have you considered Bridgestones in non runflat form? |
No if I get a non-runflat I think I would definately go something Michelin. I had those Latitude sports on my Cayenne GTS. They were a nice traction tire with good noise control. Did not really keep the thing long enough to test longevity but it was a soft tire so would have expected roughly the same as the other performance summer tires.
My main wants are performance with noise control maybe giving up slight performance for noise. I like to hear the engine and exhaust note, not tire noise. Longevity is important but if i can get 20K miles out of a performance tire ill be happy. |
I hear you...those are my exact requirements. I have no problem changing tires every 20k if tire has minimal noise with good performance, hence the latitude sport. They have the same material as pilot sport2. I got 20k miles on rears of M3 and 30k in front with those with minimal noise and good grip.

I have had good luck with Toyo Proxes ST II's on my vehicle. Nice balance between handling and traction in rain and light snow. Just ordered Continental Extreme Contacts DWS for my X5 4.8.
