Help, I'm torn!
I've been debating an X5 M vs. a 750i xDrive M Sport (possibly a 750Li) for three months now, eliminated all the other possibilities and still can't decide.
Part of the frustration is that I am now ready to buy and can't find the colors/options I want. I drove them both again yesterday and just keep going back and forth. Those of you with X5 M's, are you really pleased with your car? Would you buy it again? Why or why not? Thanks! |
You are talking apples and oranges. 7 series is luxury with some performance characteristics. The X5///M is performance with some utility characteristics. What do you need more? That will answer your question............Phil

Mine has been trouble free and have enjoyed driving it. Some others have had some issues with their cars so I can tell you about reliability of them considering the low number of cars in general. I would get it over 750. Now if you can wait a year, M5 would be a better choice. In general though, after owning BMW's for 20 years, I can tell you the build quality has declined noticeably. If you get the X, don't forget the comfort seats.

I would add performance exhaust and possibly Dinan ECU (available soon for xDrive) to make the 7 more performance oriented. |
Get an s8 2011 ;)

I have the same debating between the X6M and 750I M-pkg before as well. I end up going with the X6M for the following reasons. X6M = more fun to the driver, and 7er = more fun to the passenger; X6M = better winter drive due to higher body, 7er might get stuck with over 30cm snowfall. Last but not least, I think the X6M should hold up better re-sale value than the flagship 7 series

well, my 0.02 cents....X5M....

The 7 is great, but for overall driver satisfaction it will not compare to the X5m.
The X5m is the best vehicle I have ever owned and I have absolutely no regrets & would buy it again in a heartbeat. You will love it. |
X5 m
1) It is far more unique and entertaining to drive. From one tall man with a long torso to another, I prefer the x5's ride height. The 750 is certainly roomy but I will always prefer the ingress/egress from the x5 ride height to any car. 2) Order it from BMW the way you want it, buying off the lot you do not get the same experience. Spending 100k on a car demands that experience imho. (Bought my most recent x off the lot and it just wasn't the same as building it to my spec's...will be my last buy off the lot) X5M + shaved badges = ultimate sleeper |
I don't know about sleeper. These new X5's aren't fooling anyone with that big rubber out back !! :yikes:

Very true. Most people are still caught off guard by an suv smoking them though. I have wiped the grin off a few gt mustangs and such with my measily 50i! Mostly clowns who can't shift properly.

Get Both!! :strut:

I'll be redundant - X5M :)
Far, far, far more unique than a 750ix. Far, far, far better performance on the dry and in the snow (read, ground clearance). I faced the same decision (and an S8 was also considered). As you know, I have an X :) |
