Just making sure LC is working??(Pics)
I think I have it down. But I raced my buddy's B7 last night and the light changed before I had a chance to use it. It was closer then I thought. I just beat him. Now he is telling me he did not use his paddle shifters and his car starts in 2 gear unless you use the paddle shifter. Needless to say, he wants a rematch. I had to drop someone at the airport early this morning, so with the limited traffic and cooler weather, I tried it a few times.
It seem to work. I just want to make sure I am doing it 100%. Just in case. A further option in the M Manual mode is to activate the Launch Control feature, which enables the driver to accelerate from a standstill with maximum performance. To activate Launch Control, the driver stops the vehicle, moves the gear selector into the M/S position and activates the Sports Power mode, as well as the M Dynamic mode, or respectively, the DSC-Off mode. Then, with the transmission in stage M1, the driver presses down the brake pedal and moves the accelerator to at least 60% throttle, setting Launch Control to standby. Standby status is confirmed by “starter’s flag” symbol in the instrument cluster. As soon as the driver releases the brake pedal, the vehicle will accelerate with full power in “genuine racing style.” In the process, the M Sports Automatic transmission automatically upshifts at the ideal points, with the fastest possible shifts and optimum wheelspin control. The driver may terminate the Launch Control process at any time by reducing the throttle position. it looks like you have your settings right. you can also just apply beak and gas then use your paddle shifters but the above listed way is the quickest lc |

Do the rematch. Call IND and get the ESS tune first. Then make sure to get it into LC. And blow his doors off.

I prefer the tune with the handheld, so you can pull tune before dealer service. If BMW Service happens to flash your ECU, the tune would be lost??? Right? |
Did you see checkered cross flags in your center display? If not then you didn't activate LC.

I had an E46 M3 back in 2003 and used a Comforti Shark. That took 30-40 minutes and I had to hook a battery charger up to make sure voltage never dropped. Do you have to do that with the ESS. How many tunes do they give you? Stock and just one performance? or do multiple tunes come with the unit. Either way, I am caling Ilia on Monday. They are closed today and it appears they just got back from vacation |
just a fyi , active autowerks tune in florida is $1500 and gains are like 80+hp and 117ft lbs of tourque !

I just spoke to Roman at ESS and he gave me all the answers I was hoping to hear.
I pulled the trigger and ordered it. I told my buddy to forget the Alpina. I want to try his Porsche MO700 I know he is faster then me, but he has a racing clutch and he has a very hard time leaving the line with the lightweight flywheel/racing clutch setup. By then I will be long gone!(I hope!:dunno:) |

As far as the race against the Porsche. The 60 foot time for the X5M is staggering. Get in front the first 60 ft and then "Michael Schumacher" him? Doesn't matter who is the fastest, just who is in front. M |

Another thought. Race thru a parking lot with a speed bump. That carbon lip from Champion is expensive.
Forgot to mention I raced an ATV through a hay field a couple of weeks ago. Hard to get traction. 70 mph with all 4 wheels spinning. Took me 4 days to get rid of all the hay. Long story on how it all came about. M |

He was upset when he knew my E63 would smoke his Alpina. So he jumped on me when I got the X5. I wish i used the LC when we raced. That would have shut him up. Now he actually thinks he might take me. But with the Tune on the way, it must have scared him. So he had to pull out the big guns!!! |
I understand you are exited about the X5 but racing a modified 700HP 911 is just ridiculous. He will smoke you, leave him alone...pick a fight with Cayenne or something

I received the tuner. I have only loaded the program on my laptop. And then updated the handheld. I have not pulled the stock program yet. The truck is going to the dealer on Tuesday for minor issues and I decided to wait to get it back before doing it. I also want to make a few more baseline passes with low fuel level.
