wheel costs?

I dropped my truck off at the dealer this morning and they had alot of wheel/tire packages.

They had the really nice 21 black wheels(see pic) and matching Dunlop RF tires, TPS and high speed balanced. Factory BMW wheel, not replicas. The guys tells me retail is 6500!!! He said he would do 5500. Then he said he would take my factory 20's/tires with 5k on a trade in. He said he would give me 600 on the trade???!!!! I told him I would pass.

I know the 21 inch RF are alot of money by themselves. But I am not paying 5500 for a set of factory wheels/tires. I could pick up a set of lower end HRE and non runflats for about the same. and loose a ton of rotating mass in return
Does anyone have these for a decent price?

I worst part is I need winter tires for this truck since it is my winter vehicle.
and they do not seem to make many choices for all seasons in 21. so buying the 21s would probably be a lousy idea?

Maybe I will just buy the contis, and send my factory wheels to get powdercoated???

I just do not know what to do?

Ping member Ameritrades. He sometimes has some new take-offs.

keep your wheels and get the contis, that is what I am doing. I really wanted to get Lemans X6M wheels but he was too far from me.

that does seem to make the most sense.
I would love to have the wheels powder coated.
Maybe I will do the exchange at LA Wheel???
But then how will they hold up in the winter?

Although it's a considered added cost, many here run their cool summer wheel/tire combo and then toss on a winter set with dedicated snow tires; usually in a smaller size wheel/tire combo for better traction. And, as you discovered, most dlrs are the last place for a 'deal' on big rims/wheels.

I powder coated the factory X5M 20" wheels to match my OEM style 215 ferret grey. I use the 20" for winter and the 21" for summer. The 21" wheel is tough one. I like the look of the 21" and think 22" is to large. The problem (as you mentioned) is that there are not a lot of choices in the 21" size.

Um that's ferric gray (as in of iron)...not ferret gray.
