2011 50i to 2010 X5M?
Considering upgrading from my current 2011 X5 50i Sport with almost 13K miles to a 2010 X5M.
My Car Trade: 2011 X5 50i Sport -Purchased 7/2010 MSRP: 73,xxx Paid: 68,xxx Trade in Value: 59,800 Current Miles: 12,850 Potential New Purchase: 2010 X5M MSRP: 93,425 Black/Black Extended. Options: Cold weather, premium sound, roof rails, soft close doors, driver assistance, rear climate, comfort access. Selling price: 74,200 miles: <15K Thoughts: 1) Love the drive of the X5M. Power, suspension, etc. 2) 2010 does not have the revised tail lights. 3) A little over 2 years of warranty left for X5M 4) Nothing wrong at all with the 50i just love the power of the X5M 5) Car is DD into NYC Give it to me straight. |
I would chip in the extra 14k and buy the m!
|
If you like the M, buy the M.
If you just want more power, consider a tune for a lot less than $14k. |
Resist the temptation, M is too much for DD to the city

I agree. DD in NYC??? The M has a pretty hard ride. DD in NYC is brutal on most cars. Years ago I drove my M3 into the city. ONCE only.
if you did not mention the DD into the city, I would say what the hell are you waiting for?? |

I was not so worried about road condition, M actually has a better ride tha 5.0 due to adjustable suspension, but with the traffic there is no opportunity to really open up the 5.0 let alone M. If you really want it though there is no harm really
|
I would say go for it! Personally, I always want the best and even tho the 5.0 is a great car, it'll always be 2nd best and when you see an M, you will always want to have it. So, just get it and never look back.

Thanks for all the feedback. I made a deal with the selling dealer that I could borrow the truck for the day yesterday to make sure I wanted the car. Was going to drive to the gym, take my wife for lunch, take a cruise and return the car in the afternoon. However, when I got there and walked about the car, I noticed the tailgate would not shut all the way. It opens and closes with the button, but when the soft close part takes over it pulls in but leaves an 1/8-1/4 gap which is clearly not correct. They told me they already fixed it once so this leaves me to believe there might be more to the problem. So I left without the car. Probably going to pass on this car. Don't want a car with problems. My 50i has been a pleasure to own so far.
