has anyone w/ an X5 M lowered their SAV w/ Dinan springs?

if so, do you have any pics of the ride height? also, how's the ride? thanks.

I'm considering this suspension also. Any info would be appreciated.

They are on sale now but I thought it was more than just springs ? I thought it was shocks and struts too ?

northern2020 09-16-2011 03:39 PM

Would not recommend because the drop is too minimal and too $$

I just installed the KW v 3 coilovers on my M and it's a new truck!!

i'm looking for a slight drop...just want to make sure it doesn't ride too rough...

northern2020 09-17-2011 11:03 PM

It will always ride stiffer when springs not matched to shock.

If you were to use springs use the HR springs ( the less aggressive drop )

I thought about H&R also but Dinan's kit includes front and rear shock mounts that keep the factory suspension travel. That might be the deciding factor for me. The roads in my area suck.

I have a 2011 X5 50i Lowered with H&R Springs (30mm)

LeMansX5 11-16-2011 11:58 AM

Dinan is $$$. I like how a member with white X5M lowered with H&R kit. See post 25 onwards in this thread --> http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...et-wheels.html

Thanks. I have additional pic of my 2011 BMW X5 50i: BMW X5 50i M-Sports Package

Why would you lower a SUV? Specially one like X5M that is not too high to begin with?

MACX5 11-17-2011 11:14 AM

I have a 2011 X5 50i with M Sports Package, I'll be ordering an 2012 X5M next month. To answer you question "Why would you lower a SUV?
A: 1.) To reduced fender well gap. 2.) Lower the vehicle center of gravity and reduce body roll for better handling. 3.) Lower wind resistance signature will make the vehicle more streamlined and improve gas mileage. 4.) More sportier look.

Then you should be buying a sedan, no? One of the major differentiating points of a SUV is it being higher with more clearance, spending money to counter it is counter productive, might as well buy a sedan.

MACX5 11-18-2011 10:27 AM

I already have a sedan; Mercedes E350 a Roadster Mercedes SL55 AMG a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Ranger Rover...I lowered my X5 to reduce fender well gap, to lower the SUV's center of gravity (reducing body roll for better handling) and it gives my X5 a sportier look. Lets face it, the X5M was never made to go off road or to clear high objects, it's just a tall M5 sports Sedan with a little more ground clearance, cargo capacity, shoulder, head and leg room. If ground clearance is needed on any of my trips then I'll take my Range Rover or Jeep Rubicon out.

Then why did you buy the X5?

:iagree:

MACX5 11-21-2011 09:39 PM

I purchased the X5 because it's become my favorite vehicle...this is my 3rd X5 in 5 years and I'll be purchasing another one (2012 X5M) after Christmas.
